Rodenticide (RD) application is the most effective chemical procedure against rodents. RDs containing indirect-action anticoagulants have received currently wide acceptance. When the recommended standards for handling these agents and precautionary measures in their use are violated, there may be poisoning, the main manifestation of which is hemorrhagic coagulation. The paper provides a literature review on poisoning by RDs having anticoagulant properties. This communication gives a detailed description of a clinical case of poisoning with brodifacoum contained in the ready-to-use Nutcracker bait due to long-term exposure to the rat poison that has a cumulative effect. Careful history data collection and coagulogram analysis make it possible to establish a correct clinical diagnosis and to use appropriate therapy that leads to patient recovery.

Bacterial meningitis is a rare but severe disease with a high mortality. The most frequent pathogens in adults are pneumococcus, meningococcus and Listeria. The most important key symptoms are headache, meningism and fever; however, the absence of individual cardinal symptoms does not exclude the diagnosis.

The aberrant function of lymphocytes is considered a significant contributing factor to pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), but the precise mechanism by which T lymphocytes induce erythroid development stagnation remains unclear. In our study, the CD8 T lymphocytes were isolated from bone marrow aspirates of acquired PRCA patients and healthy controls. RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) was performed to analyze gene expression profiles.

Purpose: By leveraging the small-vessel specificity of velocity-selective arterial spin labeling (VSASL), we present a novel technique for measuring cerebral MicroVascular Pulsatility named MVP-VSASL.
Theory And Methods: We present a theoretical model relating the pulsatile, cerebral blood flow-driven VSASL signal to the microvascular pulsatility index ( ), a widely used metric for quantifying cardiac-dependent fluctuations. The model describes the dependence of the of VSASL signal (denoted ) on bolus duration (an adjustable VSASL sequence parameter) and provides guidance for selecting a value of that maximizes the SNR of the measurement.

Purpose: The present work aims to evaluate the performance of three-dimensional (3D) single-shot stack-of-spirals turbo FLASH (SOS-TFL) acquisition for pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling (PCASL) and velocity-selective ASL (VSASL)-based cerebral blood flow (CBF) mapping, as well as VSASL-based cerebral blood volume (CBV) mapping.
Methods: Digital phantom simulations were conducted for both multishot echo planar imaging and spiral trajectories with intershot signal fluctuations. PCASL-derived CBF (PCASL-CBF), VSASL-derived CBF (VSASL-CBF), and CBV (VSASL-CBV) were all acquired using 3D multishot gradient and spin-echo and SOS-TFL acquisitions following background suppression.

A 73-year-old Japanese man with chronic kidney disease had no history of abnormal clotting or bleeding. Six days after receiving his third dose of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine (BNT162b2; Pfizer/BioNTech), blood tests showed a marked prolongation of the prothrombin time-international normalised ratio and activated partial thromboplastin time, as well as a decrease in factor V (FV) activity. Three months later, he required dialysis owing to worsening heart and renal failure.
