The broadening scope of psychoanalysis has brought to the fore patients whose unconscious conflicts tend to be literally played out on the stage of the body. In these cases, the body seems to be predominantly used in a concrete, not symbolic, way in order to express underlying conflicts. In a similar vein, transference and countertransference can be manifested via the body. The authors briefly discuss some of the literature on body-mind issues, and then present an extended case report to illustrate bodily manifestations in the psychoanalytic process.

Background: In recent years, researchers have reported crucial advances in the understanding of "Dissociative psychosis" and "Dissociative schizophrenia". The most common form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is secondary to 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21OHD). This review will summarize the clinical manifestations, recommended treatments, monitoring, clinical challenges and management strategy, and treatment challenges in special situations for infants and children with classic CAH due to 21OHD. Specifically, we review newborn screening and the initial diagnosis, glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid treatment, and recommended monitoring, including anthropometric and laboratory measures.

Background/objective: : Patients with somatic symptoms are considered to have a deficiency in body-oriented mentalization; that is, the ability to perceive and interpret bodily sensations in relation to psychological states. We introduce the novel concept of psychosomatic congruence-the alignment of physical sensations with cognition and emotional states, which leads to behaviors that synchronize physical manifestations with emotional experiences and internal reflections. Despite its clinical relevance, this concept has not been empirically examined.
