The problems associated with synthetic chemical pesticides include resistance, residues, pest resurgence and the adverse effects on non-target organisms. Hence, many ecofriendly newer alternatives are being evaluated among which one of the most important is the use of herbal agents. Many of the plant extracts or its fractions are dissolved in polar or non polar solvents or detergents before tested for acaricidal activity. The solvent or detergent used for dissolving the herbal extract should have little or no acaricidal effects. In the present study, laboratory tests were carried out on engorged female Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) annulatus ticks to detect the toxicity of common diluents such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), Tween 20 and Triton X 100 at 1% concentration. The result of the study revealed that least acaricidal activity was with Triton X 100 while the other two inhibited the hatching of eggs laid by treated ticks.

Zeolites are a large family of minerals and the most studied is the naturally occurring clinoptilolite. They possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and detoxifying properties which makes them valuable for medicinal use. Element analysis of zeolite's composition is necessary for its precise chemical characterization, and within this work development of a suspension method for the determination of manga nese, iron, and zinc by total reflection X-ray fluorescence spec-trometry (TXRF) was presented.

Choline-acetyltransferase (ChAT) is the key cholinergic enzyme responsible for the biosynthesis of acetylcholine (ACh), a crucial signaling molecule with both canonical neurotransmitter function and auto- and paracrine signaling activity in non-neuronal cells, such as lymphocytes and astroglia. Cholinergic dysfunction is linked to both neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases. In this study, we investigated a serendipitous observation, namely that the catalytic rate of human recombinant ChAT (rhChAT) protein greatly differed in buffered solution in the presence and absence of Triton X-100 (TX100).

In the present study, the mixed micellization behavior of gemini surfactant-1, 5-bis (N-hexadecyl- N, N-dimethylammonium) pentane dibromide (G5) with non-ionic surfactant triton X-100 (TX-100) was investigated in the micellar phase by utilizing the conductometric technique. The deviation of ideal critical micelle concentration (cmc*) from experimental critical micelle concentration (cmc) has been estimated using well-known Clint's theory of mixed micelles. The regular solution approximation was used to determine the interaction parameter (β) and found to be negative.

With the exponential growth of global photovoltaic (PV) installed capacity, the quantity of discarded PV modules continues to rise. This study innovatively explored the sustainable recovery and utilization of raw materials from discarded solar panels, focusing on the transformation of recycled silicon into microporous silica nanoparticles (MSN). Low toxic organic solvent ethyl acetate (EA) was for the first time utilized to reduce the viscosity of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) and facilitated its removal.

The study explored the efficacy of Salvia chudaei ethanolic extract in managing hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, and oxidative stress induced by Triton X-100 in Wistar rats. Twenty-four rats were divided into four groups: Control, Salvia chudaei-treated, Triton-induced hyperlipidemic, and a combination of Triton + Salvia chudaei treatment. Triton X-100 raised serum levels of total cholesterol, triacylglycerol, and LDL while lowering HDL cholesterol, leading to oxidative stress marked by increased MDA and reduced antioxidant activity in liver and kidney tissues.
