Reversible and selective binding of a dynamically racemic europium(III) complex to α(1)-acid glycoprotein and α(1)-antitrypsin is characterised by a significant change in the europium total emission spectral fingerprint and the switching on of a large circularly polarised luminescence (CPL) signal from the metal centre. Observation of an induced CD into the ligand chromophore in the presence of α(1)-AGP allows a structure for the protein-bound complex to be postulated. A direct determination of elevated α(1)-AGP levels in human serum was achieved by monitoring changes in the intensity ratio of Eu emission bands.

2D Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskites, upon inclusion of a chiral amine, exhibit chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS). Although alloying at the halogen site in MBA-based RPs (MBA: methylbenzylammonium) is one of the suitable routes to tune the CISS effect, the mixed-halide RP perovskites exhibited complete suppression of chirality when probed through circular dichroism (CD). This study investigates the synthesis and characterization of alkyne-based multilayered three-dimensional (3D) polymers, which exhibit a subtle aggregation-induced emission (AIE) phenomenon. The polymers demonstrate significant potential as fluorescent probes for the selective detection of chromium (VI) ions (Cr⁺), showcasing their utility in environmental sensing applications. Additionally, the circular dichroism (CD) spectra reveal a pronounced cotton effect, indicative of chiral properties, while scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dynamic light scatting (DLS) analysis reveal a distinctive rock-like surface morphology and Cr sensitive anti-aggregation.

Blue-emissive nitrogen-doped chiral carbon dots (d-NCD230 and l-NCD230) exhibiting antipodal chiroptical activity, synthesized from the thermal pyrolysis of citric acid and d/l-aspartic acid in 1:2 molar ratios, have been explored as chirality-based fluorescent turn-off/on probes for the detection of Hg and l-cysteine (l-Cys).
