A ligature carrier for use in typing the neurovascular bundle along the lesser curve of the stomach during highly selective vagotomy is described. This is presented as a safe and efficient way of performing this part of the operation.

measurement and mapping of oxygen levels within the tissues are crucial in understanding the physiopathological processes of numerous diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, or peripheral vascular diseases. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) associated with biocompatible exogenous spin probes, such as Ox071 triarylmethyl (TAM) radical, is becoming the new gold standard for oxygen mapping in preclinical settings. However, these probes do not show tissue selectivity when injected systemically, and they are not cell permeable, reporting oxygen from the extracellular compartment only.

Their dependence of replication on host machinery poses the question of whether RNA modifications play a role in viroid biology. Here, we explore RNA modifications in the avocado sunblotch viroid (ASBVd) and the citrus exocortis viroid (CEVd), representative members of viroids replicating in chloroplasts and the nucleus, respectively, using LC - MS and Oxford Nanopore Technology (ONT) direct RNA sequencing.

Distal appendages are nine-fold symmetric blade-like structures attached to the distal end of the mother centriole. These structures are critical for formation of the primary cilium, by regulating at least four critical steps: ciliary vesicle recruitment, recruitment and initiation of intraflagellar transport (IFT), and removal of CP110. While specific proteins that localize to the distal appendages have been identified, how exactly each protein functions to achieve the multiple roles of the distal appendages is poorly understood.

Ultrasmall and highly fluorescent gold nanoclusters (Au NCs) have been widely used for the construction of sensing and imaging platforms. Specifically, through a combination of surface functionalization and spectral analysis and/or imaging techniques, effective intracellular detection and imaging are realized. In this review, we summarize the recently adopted intracellular analysis and imaging events with Au NCs-based probes.

Background: For people receiving haemodialysis, a balance has to be struck between removing sufficient but not too much fluid during a treatment session and maintaining any remaining kidney function they might have. In the BISTRO trial, this study sought to establish if getting the balance right might be improved by the additional use of bioimpedance, a device that measures body fluid composition to help decide how much fluid to remove during dialysis. Designing and executing this trial, which incorporated complex and repeated trial procedures that would be dependent on participant engagement, presented challenges that demanded effective public and patient involvement.
