Antimicrobial surfaces are a promising approach to reduce the spread of pathogenic microorganisms in various critical environments. To achieve high antimicrobial functionality, it is essential to consider the material-specific bactericidal mode of action in conjunction with bacterial surface interactions. This study investigates the effect of altered contact conditions on the antimicrobial efficiency of Cu surfaces against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Objectives: Adherence of patients to their immunosuppressive treatment protocol after liver transplant is critical for the health and longevity of the transplanted liver. This study aimed to evaluate and determine the factors affecting the adherence of patients to immunosuppressive therapy after liver transplant.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study with patients who had undergone liver transplant in a university hospital between June 2021 and June 2022.

Background: Total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) is nowadays the standard to treat benign and malignant disease occurring in the uterus, but the number of robotic-assisted surgeries is increasing worldwide. To facilitate the handling of sutures in a bi- and tri-dimensional plane, a new type of suture material has been developed, named barbed sutures, which are in use in different indications. In comparison to conventional suture materials, the barbs anchor the suture in the tissue, provide tissue approximation and prevent slippage without the need for knot tying.

Sacubitril/valsartan (Sac/Val) belongs to the group of angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors and has been used for the treatment of heart failure (HF) for several years. The mechanisms that mediate the beneficial effects of Sac/Val are not yet fully understood. In this study we investigated whether Sac/Val influences the two proteolytic systems, the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) and the autophagy-lysosomal pathway (ALP), in a mouse model of pressure overload induced by transverse aortic constriction (TAC) and in human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) treated with endothelin-1 (ET1) serving as a human cellular model of hypertrophy.
