We study the compression of viscous filaments at constant velocity. If slender enough, the filament bends, a viscous analogue of Euler elastic buckling. We measure the characteristic time of this viscous buckling and discuss the link with the elastic critical compression. We show that the analogy only holds in the limit of large capillary numbers. Otherwise capillarity has a stabilizing effect, which suppresses buckling.

We present a surface analog to a dripping faucet, where a viscous liquid slides down an immiscible meniscus. Periodic pinch-off of the dripping filament is observed, generating a succession of monodisperse floating lenses. We show that this interfacial dripping faucet can be described analogously to its single-phase counterpart, replacing surface tension by the spreading coefficient, and even undergoes a transition to a jetting regime.

The identification of recyclable resources are extremely important to balance the growing demand for polymer composite 3D printing and sustainable manufacturing. In the present study, SS 316L powder particle infused PLA filaments are fabricated by deriving PLA from discarded bi-material extrudates, adopting solvent mixing methodology. The matrix reclaimability, composite feedstock fabrication, extrudability and printability are investigated by increasing the solid loading from 10 - 40 wt%.

Cytoplasmic streaming is the bulk flow of cytoplasm observed, not only in plants but also in animal oocytes and embryos. The flow of viscous fluid within the cytoplasm generates forces that re-arrange intracellular organelles, such as mitotic spindles and nuclei, to regulate cell growth, migration, and polarity. Cytoplasmic streaming is established by motor proteins and the viscoelastic cytoskeleton, including the actin filaments and microtubules.
