The emergence of fluconazole-resistant Candida (FRC) is worrisome, but little is known about susceptibility patterns in different nosocomial settings. We prospectively analysed Candida bloodstream isolates in 18 medical centres in Israel (six tertiary-care and 12 community hospitals). The study included 444 episodes of candidaemia (450 patient-specific isolates, 8.5% fluconazole-resistant). Institutional FRC bloodstream infection rates correlated with annual inpatient days, and were strongly associated with the presence and activity of haematology/oncology services. Infection with Candida krusei and fluconazole-resistant Candida glabrata occurred exclusively in hospitals with >600 beds. These findings suggest that empirical antifungal strategies should be tailored to the nosocomial setting.

Background: This study assesses the impact of fluconazole resistance on 30-day all-cause mortality and 1-year recurrence in patients with Candida parapsilosis bloodstream infections (BSI).
Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was performed at 3 hospitals in Italy and Spain between 2018 and 2022. Adult patients with positive blood cultures for C.

Background: Infections with fluconazole-resistant Candida parapsilosis have been increasing in Israeli hospitals with unclear implications for patient outcomes.
Objectives: To determine the frequency, mechanisms, molecular epidemiology, and outcomes of azole-resistant C. parapsilosis bloodstream infections in four hospitals in Israel.

Currently, the rising prevalence of resistant species, particularly , as well as non-albicans isolates such as and , represent challenges in their management. In this review, we aimed to explore the current management of fluconazole-resistant vulvovaginal candidiasis (FRVVC). Identified studies focused on alternative antifungal therapies, including boric acid, nystatin, and newer agents like oteseconazole and ibrexafungerp.

is a genus of Gram-positive bacteria with high GC content. It remains attractive for studying and discovering new antibiotics, antifungals, and chemotherapeutics. genomes can contain more than 30 cryptic and expressed biosynthetic gene clusters (BGC) encoding secondary metabolites.

Introduction: There is a rise in the emergence of multidrug resistant fungal pathogens worldwide, including in Africa.
Method: This systematic review summarized the published data on the mechanisms and epidemiology of antifungal resistance in species in Africa between 2000 and early 2024.
Result: Seventeen reports from seven African countries were analyzed but due to the paucity of data, the prevalence of antifungal resistant isolates in Africa could not be estimated.
