Objective: To explore the brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) on prognostic value in patients with viral myocarditis.

Methods: A total of 48 patients with viral myocarditis and 42 healthy people were enrolled and followed up for two years. The NYHA class and LVEF were recorded and the concentration of BNP were measured.

Results: The concentration of BNP were higher and EF were lower in patients with viral myocarditis (P < 0.01) than contrast people. Higher levels of plasma BNP were related to higher mortality.

Conclusion: Levels of brain natriuretic peptide measured in the plasma could be a useful biochemical marker for the myocarditis, and high concentration of BNP may correlate with poor prognosis in patients with myocarditis.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for approximately 50% of heart failure cases globally, and this incidence is increasing due to extended lifespans and accumulating comorbidities. Emerging evidence suggests that Wnt signaling plays a role in cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and cardiac fibrosis, which are key features of HFpEF. Furthermore, Porcupine (PORCN) inhibitors, which negatively regulate Wnt signaling, have shown promising results in improving cardiac function and reducing cardiac hypertrophy and/or fibrosis.

Effect of heart rate on B-type natriuretic peptide in sinus rhythm.

B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels accurately reflect the degree of cardiac overload in heart failure. Considering cardiac morphology and intracardiac pressure, including the left ventricular end-systolic volume index (LVESVI) and left ventricular end-diastolic volume index (LVEDVI), is essential for cardiac overload assessment. These indexes influence plasma BNP levels, and high heart rate is likely associated with cardiac morphology.

Background: Qi Li Qiang Xin (QLQX) capsule has a solid theoretical basis and clinical efficacy in the treatment of chronic heart failure; however, the underlying mechanisms remain obscure. This study was designed to determine the effect of the QLQX on the treatment of heart failure and delineate the underlying mechanisms via a nontargeted metabolomics and lipidomics approach.

Methods: A rat model of heart failure after myocardial infarction (MI) was established via permanent ligation of the anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery.

Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, The Affiliated Changsha Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, 410008 Changsha, Hunan, China.

Background: Chronic heart failure (CHF) is a serious cardiovascular condition. Vascular peroxidase 1 (VPO1) is associated with various cardiovascular diseases, yet its role in CHF remains unclear. This research aims to explore the involvement of VPO1 in CHF.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Ischemic stroke (IS) is a major cause of mortality. Inflammation exerts an essential part of brain-heart communication after IS. Naoxintong capsules (NXT), derived from the classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation Bu-Yang-Huan-Wu-Tang, are extensively employed in China to manage IS, myocardial infarction (MI), and atherosclerosis.
