Coordinating properties of uridine 5'-monophosphate (UMP) towards trivalent La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and Gd ions in presence of cationic and anionic micelles have been investigated by potentiometric pH-titration and spectroscopic methods. Stability constants of the 2:1 complexes have been determined and the change in free energy, enthalpy and entropy associated with the complexation are also calculated. Nd(III) complexes isolated from aqueous and aqueous-micellar media do not show any significant structural difference. Formation of Ln(III) complexes in all cases completes below pH 7.5 showing that UMP best interacts with Ln(3+) ions at the physiological pH range 7.3-7.5. The nucleobase is not involved in the complexation and the metal ion coordination of UMP is through the phosphate moiety only. Coordinating tendency of UMP with lanthanides, Nd(III) ion in particular, at different pH is also discussed. Luminescent properties of Eu(III) complex and its decay lifetime are also presented. This information may prove helpful regarding the use of lanthanides as biological probes for calcium/magnesium ions.

Decoding ruminative reflection in healthy individuals: The role of triple network connectivity.

Int J Clin Health Psychol

October 2024

Key Laboratory of Cognition and Personality, Faculty of Psychology, Southwest University, Chongqing, China.

Ruminative reflection has been linked to enhanced executive control in processing internally represented emotional information, suggesting it may serve as an adaptive strategy for emotion regulation. Investigating the neural substrates of reflection can deepen our understanding of its adaptive properties. This study used network-based statistic (NBS)-Predict methodology to identify resting state functional connectivity (FC)-based predictors of ruminative reflection in a healthy sample.

This paper reports the synthesis, crystal structures and conducting properties of the first BEDT-TTF radical-cation salts with symmetry tris-coordinated racemic lanthanide(III) anions. It is also the first crystallographic determination of the nine-coordinate tris(chelidonato)terbate and tris(chelidonato)dysprosate anions (chelidonic acid = clo = 4-oxo-4-pyran-2,6-dicarboxylic acid). Salt α-(BEDT-TTF)M(chelidonato)·EtOH·2HO is semimetallic for M = Tb, and semiconducting for M = Dy.

The rise of various diseases demands the development of new agents with antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, enzyme-inhibiting, and cytotoxic properties. In this study, heterocyclic Schiff base complexes of Cu(II) featuring a benzo[]thiophene moiety were synthesized and their biological activities evaluated. The complexes were characterized using FT-IR, UV-Vis, and EPR spectroscopy, TG-DTG analysis, magnetic moment measurements, molar conductivity measurements, and elemental analyses.

In this work, we investigate the development of polymer electrolytes for sodium batteries based on sulfonamide functional polymer nanoparticles (NaNPs). The synthesis of the polymer NaNPs is carried out by emulsion copolymerization of methyl methacrylate and sodium sulfonamide methacrylate in the presence of a crosslinker, resulting in particle sizes of 50 nm, as shown by electron microscopy. Then, gel polymer electrolytes are prepared by mixing polymer NPs and different organic plasticizers including carbonates, glymes, sulfolanes and ionic liquids.

Discovery of (3-Phenylcarbamoyl-3,4-dihydro-2-pyrrol-2-yl)phosphonates as Imidazoline Receptor Ligands with Anti-Alzheimer and Analgesic Properties.

Imidazoline receptors (I-IRs) are altered in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and are associated with analgesia. I-IRs are not structurally described, and their pharmacological characterization relies on their modulation by highly affine ligands. Herein, we describe the synthesis of (3-phenylcarbamoyl-3,4-dihydro-2-pyrrol-2-yl)phosphonates endowed with relevant affinities for I-IRs in human brain tissues.
