Methoxychlor (MXC) is an organochlorine pesticide widely used in many countries against various species of insects that attack crops and domestic animals. MXC reduces fertility by increasing atresia (death) of antral follicles in vivo. MXC also induces atresia of antral follicles after 96 h in vitro. The current work tested the hypothesis that MXC induces morphological atresia at early time points (24 and 48 h) by altering pro-apoptotic (Bax, Bok, Casp3, and caspase activity) and anti-apoptotic (Bcl2 and Bcl-xL) factors in the follicles. The results indicate that at 24 h, MXC increased Bcl-xL and Bax mRNA levels and increased the ratio of Bax/Bcl2. At 48-96 h, MXC induced morphological atresia. At 24-96 h, MXC increased caspase activities. These data suggest that MXC may induce atresia by altering Bcl2 factors and inducing caspase activities in antral follicles.

In this cross-sectional study, we have analyzed advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in the plasma and follicular fluid of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) taking metformin during in vitro fertilization (IVF) and control women undergoing IVF. Glucose, fructose, fructosamine, carboxymethyl lysine/ arginine (CML/R) proteins, and pentosidine were measured in the plasma and paired follicular fluid. Glycated proteins were characterized by mass spectrometry.

The specific expression profile and function of circular RNA (circRNA) in follicular atresia remain largely unknown. Here, the circRNA expression profiles of granulosa cells derived from healthy follicles (HFs) and antral follicles (AFs) in buffalo were analyzed by RNA-seq, and the mechanism of a differentially expressed circRNA (DEcircRNA) circTEC regulating the granulosa cell function that affects follicular atresia was further explored. RNA-seq results showed that a total of 112 DEcircRNAs were identified.

Pubertal disorders in the form of delayed puberty (DP) or precocious puberty (PP) can cause considerable anxiety to both children and parents. Since the clinical and biochemical signatures of self-limiting and permanent conditions overlap considerably, it can be hard to determine whether to offer them reassurance or intervention. Researchers have thus long been searching for a robust test to indicate that the process of endogenous puberty is underway and is likely to proceed to completion.

Objective: To compare pregnancy outcomes after single blastocyst embryo transfer among patients whose first autologous embryo transfer was either a fresh embryo transfer or a frozen embryo transfer (FET) after a freeze-all, in the absence of preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A).
Design: A multicenter retrospective cohort analysis.
Setting: National multicenter fertility practice.

Bisphenols, particularly bisphenol A (BPA), are among the most thoroughly investigated endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). BPA was the first synthetic estrogen to be identified, exerting its estrogenic effects through interaction with human estrogen receptors (ERs). The aim of the present narrative review is to summarize the most recent literature regarding the adverse effects of bisphenols on female fertility and pregnancy outcomes.
