Objective: To investigate the effects of echinacoside on the extracellular striatal levels of norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), homovanillic acid (HVA), 3, 4-dihydroxyphenylethanoid acid (DOPAC), 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (HIAA), and 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) in middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO rats.
Methods: The middle cerebral artery was occluded in male Sprague-Dawley rats. Three days later microdialysis probes were placed into the right striatum of MCAO rat brains and the brains were perfused with Ringer's solution at a rate of 1.5 microL/min. Cerebral microdialysates were collected every 30 minutes from awake and freely moving rats before assaying for NE, DA, HVA, DOPAC, HIAA, and 5-HT levels by reverse phase HPLC with electrochemistry.
Results: Three days after MCAO, the extracellular striatal levels of NE, DA, DOPAC, HIAA, HVA, and 5-HT of the MCAO rats increased significantly (at least P < 0.05 vs. control). However, simultaneous treatment with echinacoside (30.0 or 15.0 mg/kg) attenuated these increases (at least P < 0.05 vs. non-treated model rats).
Conclusion: These results imply that echinacoside may protect striatal dopa minergic neurons from the injury induced by MCAO and may help prevent and treat cerebral ischemic diseases.

Active transportation, such as cycling, improves mobility and general health. However, statistics reveal that in low- and middle-income countries, male and female cycling participation rates differ significantly. Existing literature highlights that women's willingness to use bicycles is significantly influenced by their perception of security.

Objective: Electroacupuncture has been shown to play a neuroprotective role following ischemic stroke, but the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. Ferroptosis has been shown to play a key role in the injury process. In the present study, we wanted to explore whether electroacupuncture could inhibit ferroptosis by promoting nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) nuclear translocation.

Background: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a high-risk factor for dementia and dysphagia; therefore, early intervention is vital. The effectiveness of intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) targeting the right dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex (rDLPFC) remains unclear.
Methods: Thirty-six participants with MCI were randomly allocated to receive real (n = 18) or sham (n = 18) iTBS.

Background: Ischemic stroke (IS) is an important disease causing death and disability worldwide, and further investigation of IS-related genes through genome-wide association study (GWAS) data is valuable.
Methods: The study included GWAS data from 62,100 IS patients of European origin and 1,234,808 controls in a cross-tissue transcriptome association study (TWAS). A joint analysis was first performed by the Unified Test for Molecular Markers (UTMOST) and FUSION methods.

Purpose: To elucidate the structural-functional connectivity (SC-FC) coupling in white matter (WM) tracts in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).
Methods: A total of 178 individuals diagnosed with MDD and 173 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited for this study. The Euclidean distance was calculated to assess SC-FC coupling.
