Examination of 94 city bus drivers with long length of service revealed changes in lipid metabolism and C-reactive protein level, dependent on the examinees' age and length of service. Matching the biochemical parameters and clinical data proved that dyslipoproteinemia and serum C-reactive protein level could indicate cardiovascular risk in city bus drivers.

Human activities have far-reaching impact on natural ecosystems, causing increasing disturbances and disruptions to the delicate balance of the environment. Poor land use planning, urbanization, infrastructure development, and unplanned tourism exacerbate contamination and degradation in tourist destinations, yet the pollution of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in these environments remains inadequately explored. To address this issue, we investigated the concentrations of acid-digested PTEs in road dust in Abbottabad city (Pakistan) with heavy traffic.

The transit signal priority, as an effective method to address public transport operation issues, has been widely applied. With the continuous advancement of connected technology, research on developing transit signal priority strategies using vehicle-to-everything technology is gaining increasing attention. However, current traffic signal priority studies primarily focus on optimizing bus speeds on dedicated bus lanes, neglecting the adverse impacts of private vehicle queuing on priority strategies, as well as the carbon emissions resulting from speed fluctuations.

Exactly solvable dual bus-route model.

Phys Rev E

November 2024

Faculty of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh 700000, Vietnam.

In 1998, O'Loan et al. introduced a simplified bus-route model to illustrate bus dynamics. However, fluctuations in passenger numbers make it challenging to achieve an exact solution for the model's stationary state, as these fluctuations can impact bus behavior.

Co-occurring mental health problems in adolescents with ADHD and sleep problems.

Sleep Med

December 2024

KU Leuven, Tiensestraat 102, bus 3720, 3000, Leuven, Belgium. Electronic address:

Objective: Sleep problems are highly prevalent and impairing in adolescents with ADHD. However, their relation with co-occurring mental health problems is still unclear. This study assessed whether adolescents with ADHD, with and without self-reported sleep problems, differ from each other in co-occurring mental health problems, and whether they differ from adolescents without ADHD.

This paper analyses different modes and cycles of seat vibration in city buses by analysing acceleration peak magnitudes and their trends and fluctuations in the time domain. The purpose is to find peak vibration modes that exist in the driving patterns of city buses. Analysing peaks in a time series is essential for many applications specifically in vibration analysis because they represent significant events.
