AI Article Synopsis

  • Mn(2)Au, a new layered bimetal, is created using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE).
  • Research shows that Mn(2)Au exhibits antiferromagnetic properties with a low critical temperature.
  • The findings also confirm the antiferromagnetic behavior through the exchange-bias effect in Mn(2)Au/Fe bilayers, paving the way for future studies in spin-electronic devices.

Article Abstract

Mn(2)Au, a layered bimetal, is successfully grown using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The experiments and theoretical calculations presented suggest that Mn(2)Au film is antiferromagnetic with a very low critical temperature. The antiferromagnetic nature is demonstrated by measuring the exchange-bias effect of Mn(2)Au/Fe bilayers. This study establishes a primary basis for further research of this new antiferromagnet in spin-electronic device applications.

Electronic address:

This research investigated the effect modified solvent-shifting method on the formation, ordered structure, and morphology of V-type starch. Ionic liquid (IL) dissolution and hot ethanol aqueous incubation in gradient concentrations from 30 % to 80 % (v/v) were applied to optimize the relative crystallinity of V-type starch. The results showed that this new method worked in producing V-type conformation, and higher ethanol concentration tended to yield V-type starch with higher crystallinity and more disk-like shape structure within the ethanol range of 30-50 % (v/v).

Using the integration-free episomal vector containing the reprogramming components OCT3/4/shp53, Sox2/KLF4, L-MYC/LIN28, and EBNA-1, hematopoietic stem cells obtained from a healthy 33-year-old man were effectively reprogrammed and turned into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The reprogrammed iPSCs were grown without the use of feeders. They exhibited a normal karyotype, displayed pluripotency markers, and differentiated into cells from the three germ layers.

Self-assembled DNA origami lattices on silicon oxide surfaces have great potential to serve as masks in molecular lithography. However, silicon oxide surfaces come in many different forms and the type and history of the silicon oxide has a large effect on its physicochemical surface properties. Therefore, we here investigate DNA origami lattice formation on differently fabricated SiOx films on silicon wafers after wet-chemical oxidation by RCA1.

The scale of nanoparticle use in consumer goods has grown exponentially over several decades owing to the unique properties of materials in this size range. At the same time, well-defined end of life cycle disposal strategies have not been developed for most materials, meaning that we are approaching the potential for a new ecological disaster with the release of millions of metric tons of nanoparticles into the waste stream. The field of nanotoxicology has grown to meet the challenge of investigating the potential hazards of these materials and has already identified toxicity mechanisms that affect multiple tropes of life.
