Rotavirus is one of the leading causes of diarrhea in children. In 2018, G8P[8], an unusual association of genotypes, was detected with moderate frequency in symptomatic children in Argen-tina, unlike a previous sporadic identification in 2016. The aim of this study was to analyze the dissemination pattern of the G8P[8]-lineage IV strains detected in Argentina.

Unlabelled: Gastrointestinal tract infections with acute diarrhea are indeed a serious cause of concern that held back the swine industry of North East India and among the various etiological agents causing the disease, group A rotavirus is the most common. In this regard, molecular characterization of the viral strains circulating in the region is of utmost importance for a strategic approach to control the disease. Thus, in the present study, diarrheic fecal samples from piglets of Tripura and Assam were evaluated for genotypic characterization of VP7 and VP4 gene of the virus.

Although members of rotavirus group A (RVA) are major enteric pathogens of humans and animals of many species, their impact on the health of small ruminants is not well documented. In this study, we conducted a molecular analysis of VP4, VP7, VP6 and NSP4 genes of RVAs detected using a commercial antigen ELISA in small ruminants with or without diarrhea in Turkey. Of the RVAs detected in sheep, one strain (Kutahya) was characterized as genotype G8P[1]-I2-E2.

While conducting rotavirus gastroenteritis surveillance in Vietnam, two G3P[8] rotavirus A specimens possessing an identical short RNA electropherotype were detected. They were RVA/Human-wt/VNM/0232/2016/G3P[8] and RVA/Human-wt/VNM/0248/2016/G3P[8], and recovered from 9 and 23 months old boys, respectively. The patients developed diarrhoea within one-week interval in March 2016 but in places >100 km apart in northern Vietnam.
