The outcome of reactions between D(2)O and size-selected ionic clusters of the type MH(+)(H(2)O)(n) (M = bipyridine, n = 1-30) shows that H-D-exchange is significantly higher for 2,2'-bipyridines than for 4,4'-bipyridines. This gives strong support for the idea that the existence of short water wires between the two nitrogen sites is essential to proton migration in water clusters containing basic sites.

Powdered germinated Thai rice () is widely utilised as a dietary supplement to support health and prevent diseases. This study investigated the bioactive compound profile of water extracts from beverage powder made from Thai germinated brown rice (GBRE) and assessed its anticancer effects on cholangiocarcinoma, lung cancer, and liver cancer cell lines. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) revealed 23 metabolites, including amino acids, sugar, phenolic compounds and nitrogenous compounds.

Recent advancements in green and sustainable platforms, particularly visible light-driven photocatalysis, have spurred significant progress in radical chemistry, enabling the efficient synthesis of important molecules from simple and readily available feedstocks under mild conditions. However, the rapid orbital flipping and high reactivity of radicals pose substantial challenges for achieving precise enantiocontrol in stereocenter formation via radical coupling. In this study, we present a generic and efficient strategy that modulates this elusive approach, facilitating enantiocontrollable protonation through 1,3-boron migration.

Maintaining the clarity of the cornea is crucial for optimal vision. Corneal scarring (CS), resulting from corneal inflammation, trauma, or surgery, can lead to a reduction in corneal transparency and visual impairment. While corneal transplantation is the primary method for restoring vision, the limited availability of corneal donor presents a significant challenge on a global scale.

The intramolecular migration of three hydrogen atoms from one moiety of a gaseous radical cation to the other prior to fragmentation is an extremely rare type of redox reaction. Within the scope of this investigation, this scenario requires an ionized but electron-rich arene acceptor bearing a para-(3-hydroxyalkyl) residue. The precise mechanism of such unidirectional 3H transfer processes, including the order of the individual H transfer steps, has remained unclear in spite of previous isotope labelling and recent infrared ion spectroscopy (IRIS) studies.

Background: This study reports outcomes of the RefluxStop procedure treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in clinical practice at a high-volume regional hospital in Germany.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 79 patients with chronic GERD that underwent the RefluxStop procedure, comprising high mediastinal dissection, loose cruroplasty, esophagogastroplication between vagal trunks, and fundus invagination of the RefluxStop implant. The primary outcome was GERD Health-Related Quality-of-Life (GERD-HRQL) score and improvement from baseline.
