Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is characterized by optic neuritis or transverse myelitis with anti-aquaporin 4 (AQP4) antibodies (1). We herein present the case of a patient with NMOSD who also was affected with peripheral neuropathy. A 58-year-old woman developed gait disturbance and sensory impairment in the lower limbs. She exhibited longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis with anti-AQP4 antibodies. Nerve conduction studies showed demyelinating changes. Laboratory findings showed hepatitis-C virus (HCV) infection. Her peripheral neuropathy improved after immunotherapy. There have been no previous reports of NMO or NMOSD associated with neuropathy. The HCV infection or undetermined humoral factors other than the anti-AQP4 antibodies may have caused her peripheral neuropathy.

Orthopaedic surgery has a higher risk of iatrogenic nerve injury than other surgical specialties. The initial management depends on the etiology, which requires early recognition and an appreciation for the injury. Three perspectives are given to guide the surgeon through the initial management of these devastating complications.

The authors highlight the importance of knowledge of anatomy, meticulous dissection, and preparation to navigate complex surgical scenarios effectively. Furthermore, proactive approaches to managing difficult situations encountered during surgery are outlined, emphasizing timely recognition and decisive action.

Intercostal neuralgia can be debilitating and extremely difficult to treat despite multi-modal therapies. The literature describing the role of neuromodulation in patients with intercostal neuralgia is scarce. In this medically challenging case report, we describe a 56-year-old male with a near complete resolution of intractable chronic intercostal neuralgia, secondary to traumatic rib fractures and multiple surgical interventions, with a single lead thoracic spinal cord stimulator (SCS) implant.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating form of stroke with a lack of effective treatments. Following disease onset, ICH activates microglia and recruits peripheral leukocytes into the perihematomal region to amplify neural injury. Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) controls the proliferation and survival of various myeloid cells and lymphocytes.

The persistence or emergence of long-term symptoms following resolution of primary SARS-CoV-2 infection is referred to as long COVID or post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC). PASC predominantly affects the cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, gastrointestinal, reproductive, and immune systems. Among these, the central nervous system (CNS) is significantly impacted, leading to a spectrum of symptoms, including fatigue, headaches, brain fog, cognitive impairment, anosmia, hypogeusia, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and peripheral neuropathy (neuro-PASC).
