This work deals with the use of predictors to identify useful B-cell linear epitopes to develop immunoassays. Experimental techniques to meet this goal are quite expensive and time consuming. Therefore, we tested 5 free, online prediction methods (AAPPred, ABCpred, BcePred, BepiPred and Antigenic) widely used for predicting linear epitopes, using the primary structure of the protein as the only input. We chose a set of 65 experimentally well documented epitopes obtained by the most reliable experimental techniques as our true positive set. To compare the quality of the predictor methods we used their positive predictive value (PPV), i.e. the proportion of the predicted epitopes that are true, experimentally confirmed epitopes, in relation to all the epitopes predicted. We conclude that AAPPred and ABCpred yield the best results as compared with the other programs and with a random prediction procedure. Our results also indicate that considering the consensual epitopes predicted by several programs does not improve the PPV.

The multicomponent intervention FIBROWALK integrates pain science education (PSE), therapeutic exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness training for treating fibromyalgia (FM). This study investigated the effects of the FIBROWALK in online (FIBRO-On) and outdoor (FIBRO-Out) formats compared to treatment-as-usual (TAU) on core clinical variables along with serum immune-inflammatory biomarkers and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Furthermore, the predictive value of these biomarkers on clinical response to FIBROWALK was also evaluated.

Background: Many people with endometriosis want to learn more about their condition and connect with others for support. Frequently they turn to social media site Facebook to do so. This study aimed to explore the drivers of endometriosis consumers' intentions and use of Facebook for health-related information and support, as outlined in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB).

Triple-negative breast cancer, a subtype of breast cancer, is characterized by a poor prognosis. Recent studies have shown that miRNA30b acts as an oncogene and is vital for the proliferation of malignancies across various systems. This study aimed to elucidate the impact of miRNA30b on the proliferation, migration, and invasion capabilities of breast cancer cells .

Background: Radiological measurements can predict patellar dislocation and are used to plan patella-stabilizing surgery in patients who have patellofemoral instability. However, it is unclear whether these measurements can predict subjective symptoms in patients without previous stabilizing surgery.
Study Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3.

Background: We aimed to analyze the correlation between serum lipid levels [total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)] and recurrence after uterine fibroids (UF) resection, and explore the predictive value of serum lipid levels in determining recurrence after myomectomy.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, 323 patients undergoing first myomectomy who came from Li Huili Hospital, Ningbo Medical Center between December 2019 and January 2023 were included. The primary endpoint was the recurrence of UF within 12 months following surgery.
