Chickpeas are a vital source of protein and starch for a large portion of the world's population and are known to be impacted by heat stress at every life stage. Previously known as an "Orphan Legume", little is known of the genetic control of heat stress tolerance, and most previous research has focused on heat avoidance rather than tolerance. This study utilised a population of 148 chickpea genotypes, primarily Kabulis, in 12 field trials conducted at 2 locations, two sowing periods, and across 3 years.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcid sphingomyelinase deficiency (ASMD) is a rare progressive genetic disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the gene causing low or absent activity of the enzyme acid sphingomyelinase, resulting in subsequent accumulation of its substrate, sphingomyelin. Signs and symptoms of excessive lysosomal sphingomyelin storage, such as hepatosplenomegaly and pulmonary impairment, and in a subset of patients, progressive neurological manifestations, have long been recognized as hallmarks of the disease. Uncontrolled accumulation of sphingomyelin has important and complex downstream metabolic and immunologic consequences that contribute to the disease burden.

This review briefly summarizes 50 years of research on insect neuropeptide and peptide hormone (collectively abbreviated NPH) signaling, starting with the sequencing of proctolin in 1975. The first 25 years, before the sequencing of the Drosophila genome, were characterized by efforts to identify novel NPHs by biochemical means, mapping of their distribution in neurons, neurosecretory cells, and endocrine cells of the intestine. Functional studies of NPHs were predominantly dealing with hormonal aspects of peptides and many employed ex vivo assays.

Introduction: Indirect treatment comparisons (ITCs) evaluate novel treatments compared to appropriate comparators when direct evidence is unavailable or infeasible. The objective of this study was to highlight the prevalence of different ITC methods in oncology drug submissions and to provide insights into how ITCs have been used in recent regulatory approval, reimbursement recommendations, or pricing decisions across various regions and diverse assessment frameworks.
Methods: A targeted literature review was conducted to identify assessment documents for oncology drug submissions that included ITCs.
