In the title mol-ecule, C(16)H(20)N(2)OS, the heterocyclic ring adopts a slightly distorted flattened boat conformation, and the plane through the four coplanar atoms makes a dihedral angle of 86.98 (6)° with the benzene ring. The thione, acetyl and methyl groups lie on the opposite side of the heterocyclic mean plane to the isopropylphenyl group which has an axial orientation. A weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed. In the crystal, molecules are linked via N-H⋯O, N-H⋯S and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds.

Background: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is related to the total loss of presynaptic neurotransmitters of the cholinergic system in regions of the brain related to memory. Approximately 15% of the population beyond the age of 65 years are suffering from dementia due to AD and the rate is rising exponentially with age.
Objective: The objective of this research was the synthesis of a series of 1-(4-substituted-2- thioxoquinolin-1(2H)-yl)-2-substituted ethanoneV (a-c(1-4)) by undergoing acetylation at the nitrogen of 4-hydroxyquinolin-2-(1H)-one and replacing its oxygen atom with sulphur moiety via the process of thionation.

The title compound, C(29)H(48)O, is a triterpenoid isolated from Adiantum incisum forssk. In the crystal structure, the asymmetric unit contains two independent mol-ecules which are not significantly different. Each mol-ecule contains four six-membered rings, all adopting chair conformations, and a five-membered ring in an envelope conformation.
