The uspIC: performing scan matching localization using an imaging sonar.

This paper presents a novel approach to localize an underwater mobile robot based on scan matching using a Mechanically Scanned Imaging Sonar (MSIS). When used to perform scan matching, this sensor presents some problems such as significant uncertainty in the measurements or large scan times, which lead to a motion induced distortion. This paper presents the uspIC, which deals with these problems by adopting a probabilistic scan matching strategy and by defining a method to strongly alleviate the motion induced distortion. Experimental results evaluating our approach and comparing it to previously existing methods are provided.

Background And Objectives: Despite the absence of acute lesion activity in multiple sclerosis (MS), chronic neurodegeneration continues to progress, and a potential underlying mechanism could be the kynurenine pathway (KP). Prolonged activation of the KP from chronic inflammation is known to exacerbate the progression of neurodegenerative diseases through the production of neurotoxic metabolites. Among the 8 KP metabolites, six of them, namely kynurenine (KYN), 3-hydroxylkynurenine (3HK), anthranilic acid (AA), kynurenic acid (KYNA), and quinolinic acid (QUIN), have been associated with neurodegeneration.

Background: Anti-IgLON5 disease is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder with prominent Tau protein deposits in the brainstem and hypothalamus. Purpose: Radiological follow-up of oncology patients requires the detection of metastatic lung lesions and the quantitative analysis of their changes in longitudinal imaging studies. Our aim was to evaluate SimU-Net, a novel deep learning method for the automatic analysis of metastatic lung lesions and their temporal changes in pairs of chest CT scans.

Purpose: To report on optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in patients with a type 1 Boston keratoprosthesis (KPro) and determine its feasibility through assessment of imaging artifacts.

Methods: KPro and non-KPro subjects were matched for age, gender, and glaucoma diagnosis. OCTA images of the peripapillary optic nerve were obtained, reviewed by 2 readers masked to the diagnosis for artifacts and usability, and used for microvascular measurements.
