Aspergillus oryzae has an ortholog of Saccharomyces cerevisiae KEX1, termed kexA. A truncated form of KexA protein showed serine-type carboxypeptidase activity and somewhat broader substrate specificity than Kex1 protease. Furthermore, our results indicated that KexA is required for normal growth of A. oryzae and that it might be involved in hyphal branching.

Olfactory perception is an important physiological function for human well-being and health. Loss of olfaction, or anosmia, caused by viral infections such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has received considerable attention, especially in persistent cases that take a long time to recover. This review discusses the integration of different components of the olfactory epithelium to serve as a structural and functional unit and explores how they are affected during viral infections, leading to the development of olfactory dysfunction.

The increase in the resistance of mutant strains of to the antibiotic ceftriaxone is pronounced in the decrease in the second-order acylation rate constant, k/K, by penicillin-binding protein 2 (PBP2). These changes can be caused by both the decrease in the acylation rate constant, k, and the weakening of the binding affinity, i.e.

We developed a method that utilizes fluorescent labeling of nuclear envelopes alongside cytometry sorting for the selective isolation of Purkinje cell (PC) nuclei. Beginning with SUN1 reporter mice, we GFP-tagged envelopes to confirm that PC nuclei could be accurately separated from other cell types. We then developed an antibody-based protocol to make PC nuclear isolation more robust and adaptable to cerebellar tissues of any genotypic background.
