The fieldwork of BIOAMBIENT.ES was developed from March 2009 to July 2010. BIOAMBIENT.ES is a human biomonitoring study of environmental pollutants performed in Spain at the national level. This article aims to show the tasks performed before starting the fieldwork to ensure the quality of the samples and consequently the quality of the results. A total of 1,936 whole blood, serum and first-morning urine samples and 604 hair samples were collected from workers who attended the annual occupational health examination in 38 centers in the Peninsula, Ceuta and the Canary Islands. Before the fieldwork was started, the optimal sampling material and sample shipment was identified and fieldworkers were trained in their tasks. Due to the planning and organization of the pre-analytical phase, only 1% of the collected samples had to be rejected due to problem with spills, conservation, etc. In addition, the analyses conducted showed no pre-analytical interferences.

This study introduces an innovative bio-based sorbent bead crafted by integrating chitosan (CS) biopolymers, Fe(NO3)3 and polydopamine nanoparticles (PDA NPs) via glutaraldehyde crosslinking. The primary focus of this study was the concurrent separation of diverse tetracycline antibiotics (TCs), followed by rigorous reversed-phase liquid chromatography analysis. The fabricated CS/Fe@PDA sorbent beads were comprehensively characterized using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, revealing a surface rich in active carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and oxygen (O) moieties.

Background: Tavaborole (TAV), a benzoxaborole derivative, is an FDA-approved antifungal agent for treating onychomycosis, a common and persistent fungal infection of the toenails.
Objective: This study aimed to develop a robust stability-indicating HPTLC method to determine TAV in nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) using a comprehensive approach that includes risk assessment, and Analytical Quality by Design.
Methods: The critical method parameters influencing the HPTLC results were screened using a Placket-Burman screening design followed by its optimization using a central composite optimization design.

A simple and rapid analytical method was developed for the simultaneous determination of two chromium species, Cr(III) and Cr(VI), in the environmental waters by high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS). This study incorporated a chelating pretreatment with 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDCA) to convert Cr(III) species into a stable Cr(III)-PDCA anion complex, which was then separated from Cr(VI) oxyanion using an anion exchange column. Building on the fundamental analytical approach proposed by Shigeta .

Rapid identification of asparagine (Asn) deamidation and isoaspartate (Asp) in proteins remains a challenging analytical task during the development of biological therapeutics. For this study, 46 therapeutically relevant peptides corresponding to 13 peptide families (13 unmodified peptides and 33 modified peptides) were obtained; modified peptides included Asn deamidation and isoAsp. The peptide families were characterized by three methods: reversed-phase ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (RP-UHPLC-MS); flow injection analysis high-resolution ion mobility-mass spectrometry (FIA-HRIM-MS); and shortened gradient RP-UHPLC-HRIM-MS.
