Department of Exercise Physiology, Faculty of Sport Sciences, University of Isfahan, HezarJerib Ave., Azadi Sq., P.O. Box: 81799-54359, Isfahan, Iran. Electronic address:

Background: This mini-review details the guideline for implementing the most common exercise patterns in small laboratory rodents (mice/rats) and the advantages and disadvantages of each, in ways that are comparable to humans. Also, criteria for targeted selection and control of workload and intensity of activity are proposed in different exercise programs.

New Method: As an available and low-cost intervention in physiological, biochemical and cellular-molecular assessments, different exercise programs can be effective in the prevention/treatment of many skeletal-structural, behavioral and neurodegenerative disorders.

Carotid artery atherosclerotic stenosis is an important annual cause of stroke in the United States. Moreover, the incidence of carotid artery stenosis is significantly increasing due to the widespread popularity of high fat and high salt diets, sedentary lifestyles, and the increasing age of the population. Of major importance to cardiovascular specialists is the fact that individuals with atherosclerotic carotid artery stenosis can have a prevalence of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease as high as 50 to 75%.

Objective: The primary objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the global prevalence of long COVID and its subtypes and symptoms in individuals with confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, while the secondary objective is to assess risk factors for long COVID in the same population.

Data Sources: Studies on long COVID published from July 5, 2021, to May 29, 2024, searched from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science were used for this systematic review.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the predominant form of pancreatic cancer and one of the leading causes of cancer-related death worldwide, with an extremely poor prognosis after diagnosis. High mortality from PDAC arises partly due to late diagnosis resulting from a lack of early-stage biomarkers and due to chemotherapeutic drug resistance, which arises from a highly fibrotic stromal response known as desmoplasia. Desmoplasia alters tissue mechanics, which triggers changes in cell mechanosensing and leads to dysregulated transcriptional activity and disease phenotypes.
