Twenty microsatellite markers were isolated and characterized for Solenocera crassicornis from a (GT)13-enriched genomic library. Their polymorphisms were investigated using 44 wild individuals from the South Yellow Sea. Our investigation revealed that all the markers were polymorphic. The number of alleles per locus varied from 6 to 19 with an average of 12.35. The observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.400 to 0.977 and from 0.609 to 0.940, with averages of 0.788 and 0.859, respectively. Four loci significantly deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium after Bonferroni's correction. Cross-species amplification was also conducted in Solenocera melantho collected from the East China Sea. The result showed that 14 loci could be amplified from Solenocera melantho DNAs. These polymorphic markers would be useful for assessment of genetic variation and population structure of S. crassicornis and S. melantho.

Based on data collected from research vessel cruises performed in May 2020 off the East China Sea (ECS) and the southern Yellow Sea (YS) (26°30'-35°00' N, 120°30'-127°00' E), we analyzed the shrimp community and its relationships with environmental variables by using index of relative importance, biodiversity indices, and multivariate techniques. A total of 29 species were recorded, belonging to 11 families and 19 genera. The dominant species were , , , , , , and , which together accounted for 82.

Shrimp meat is prone to autolysis and decay due to the abundance of endogenous enzymes and contamination from microorganisms. HVEF freezing can slow the spoilage of shrimp, producing small and uniform ice crystals, resulting in less damage to muscle tissue. In this study, HVEF technique was used to freeze the shrimp (Solenocera melantho), and the UPLC-MS metabolic technique was used to investigate the metabolites of frozen shrimp meat.

Herein, we present a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the compositions of plasmalogens and phospholipids (PLs) in dried big head shrimp (Solenocera melantho), opossum shrimp (Neomysis awatschensis), mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis), and sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus). We also analyze the fatty acid composition of the extracted lipids, phosphatidyl choline (PtdCho), and plasmalogen choline (PlsCho) from each sample. In big head shrimp, opossum shrimp, and mussel, phosphatidyl choline (PtdCho) was the most abundant PL at 1677.

Shrimp meat is an extremely perishable product; however, refrigeration can slow down spoilage. In this study, we used electron beam irradiation (EBI) to pre-treat shrimp meat and analyzed the metabolites of the treated shrimp meat during refrigerated storage using metabonomic analysis methods. In total, 4865 metabolites were identified, of which, 103 differential metabolites had KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) IDs.

In this study, glazing with water and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) extract were applied on frozen mud shrimp (Solenocera melantho) and stored at -20 °C for 24 weeks. Quality loss and protein and lipid changes of shrimp were evaluated by total volatile basis nitrogen (TVB-N), drip loss, moisture distribution, sulfhydryl content (SH), disulfide bond, intrinsic fluorescence intensity, lipid content, free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value (PV), fluorescent compounds and sensory characteristics. Results showed that unglazed mud shrimp exhibited significant quality decline after 16 weeks of frozen storage.
