A cyclizative atmospheric CO(2) fixation by unsaturated amines such as allyl and propargyl amines under mild reaction conditions, efficiently leading to cyclic carbamates bearing a iodomethyl group, have been developed utilizing tert-butyl hypoiodite (t-BuOI).

In this work, a switchable synthesis of β-ketosulfone and α-chloroketone through a radical difunctionalization of alkenes is reported. The transformation works well under iron peroxo species/photoredox dual catalysis and an open-flask atmosphere, and the reaction is highlighted with good yields and a broad reaction scope. Mechanism studies show that the reaction is initiated by a formal [4 + 2] cyclization of the sulfonyl radical in a regioselective manner.

The cleavage of carbon-carbon bonds and their subsequent reassembly into highly functionalized and useful molecules in an atom-efficient manner has always been a central focus in the realm of organic synthesis. In this report, we describe the construction of highly functionalized naphthol esters via a tandem reassembly process, driven by Ullmann-type coupling of enaminones and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. Mechanistic investigations suggest the involvement of C(sp)-C(sp) coupling, cyclization, two acyl migrations, aromatization, and additional transformations within this tandem sequence.

The evolution of volatile compounds in wine comprises several acid-catalyzed reactions, such as glycosides precursors' hydrolysis and rearrangements, and significantly contributes to its sensory qualities, even after prolonged aging. The aim of this work was to use a well-defined experimental design and to examine how terpenoids in Gewürztraminer wine change over time when subjected to different temperatures and pH levels over two weeks. A theoretically-based approach was used, involving the definition of a complete system of ordinary differential equations (ODE) with well-established boundary conditions (initial concentration of reactants/products), using Kinetiscope, a kinetic simulation software.
