We present a case of highly elevated tenfold rise of serum chromogranin A in a young, morbidly obese, hypertensive female being investigated for pancreatic mass, weight loss, and elevated ESR. Following extensive noninvasive investigations, an ultrasound-guided pancreatic biopsy confirmed benign haemorrhagic cyst. A clue to the etiology of the hyperchromogranin A was the elevated serum gastrin level leading to suspicion of proton pump inhibitor administration confirmed by admittance to its use. Withdrawal of the medication led to dramatic resolution of the neuroendocrine tumor marker.

Neuroendocrine tumors are a diverse group of tumors predominantly found in the gastrointestinal tract or respiratory system. : This retrospective study aimed to measure the serum concentrations of LRP6 (low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6), SFRP3 (secreted frizzled-related protein 3), and DVL1 (segment polarity protein dishevelled homolog) using the ELISA method in patients with NETs (N = 80) and a control group (N = 62). We evaluated the results against various demographic, clinicopathological, and biochemical characteristics.

Metastasis of prostate cancer to the testes is exceptionally rare. We report the case of a 67-year-old male with a 10-year history of high-risk prostate cancer, previously treated and currently in remission, who presented with left scrotal swelling. The swelling was clinically and radiologically diagnosed as a hydrocele and treated surgically.

Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) are characterized by carcinoid syndrome and carcinoid heart disease (CHD). The aim of the present study was to identify early risk markers for carcinoid heart disease and survival in a prospective median-term follow-up setting. We measured 5-HIAA and cumulative 5-HIAA exposure (Cum-5-HIAA) based on repeated measurements, proBNP, vascular function, hepatic tumor load, and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) at baseline and during the median 5-year follow-up.

Niobium carbide (NbCTx), a key component of the MXene family renowned for its utilization in lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors, remains largely underutilized in biosensing applications. This study introduces a notably sensitive and label-free dual-mode electrochemiluminescence (ECL) and colorimetric immunosensor to specifically detect chromogranin A (CgA) in biological fluids. Initially, AuAg bimetallic nanoparticles (BiMNPs) were synthesized using NbCTx as a reducing and supporting material.

Radiology and serum biomarkers are used for post-resection surveillance; however, no universally established protocol exists. Serum Chromogranin A (CgA) concentration is elevated in NF-PNET, and generally correlates with burden of disease; many CgA studies include mixed gastrointestinal and pancreatic populations.
