In this study, the putative target genes of the Arc two-component system of the rumen bacterium Mannheimia succiniciproducens were determined by analyzing the transcriptome of the ArcA overexpression strain and by the in silico scanning of the entire genome sequence with the position weight matrix of the ArcA binding sequence developed for Escherichia coli. The majority of 79 repressed genes were involved in energy metabolism and carbohydrate transport and metabolism, while the majority of 82 induced genes were involved in hypothetical or unknown functions. Our results suggest that the Arc system in M. succiniciproducens has a specific function that differs from that in E. coli.

The continuous interaction between phages and their respective hosts has resulted in the evolution of multiple bacterial immune mechanisms. However, the diversity and prevalence of antiviral defense systems in complex communities are still unknown. We therefore investigated the diversity and abundance of viral defense systems in 3,038 high-quality bacterial and archaeal genomes from the rumen.

Background: The rumen fluke, Calicophoron daubneyi, is the major paramphistome species infecting ruminants within Europe. Adult flukes reside within the rumen where they are in direct contact with a unique collection of microorganisms. Here, we report a 1.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that is an unconventional feed resource with significant developmental potential. This research aimed to explore the effects of silage on the growth performance, blood parameters, immunity, antioxidation, cytokine levels, and rumen bacterial composition of Kazakh lamb. Forty healthy male Kazakh lambs, aged 5 months and weighing 30.

Alfalfa silage due to its high protein can lead to easier feeding management, but its high proportion of rumen-degradable protein can reduce rumen nitrogen utilization. Nevertheless, increasing dietary energy can enhance ruminal microbial protein synthesis. Thirty-two Suffolk female sheep were used in this study, with a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatment.
