Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the accuracy of robotic-assisted dental implant placement (r-CAIS) with conventional freehand, static computer-assisted (s-CAIS), and dynamic computer-assisted (d-CAIS) techniques.

Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and the Cochrane Library from January 2000 to January 2024. Studies meeting PICOST criteria, including clinical and in vitro studies, were included.

Objectives: To analyze the trends in the context of implant therapy in a 3-year patient population and compare it with data obtained over the last 20 years.

Materials And Methods: All adult subjects who received treatment in the context of implant therapy between 2020 and 2022 were included in this retrospective study. Data regarding patient demographics, indications and location of implant therapy, implant characteristics, surgical techniques, complications, and early implant failures were recorded and compared to data obtained in the years 2002-2004, 2008-2010, and 2014-2016.

Enhancing Implant Position Accuracy in Guided Implantology: The Role of Drill Play Under Lateral Forces.

Clin Exp Dent Res

December 2024

Research Centre for Digital Technologies in Dentistry and CAD/CAM, Department of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Danube Private University, Krems an der Donau, Austria.

Objectives: This study investigates the impact of drill play on the precision of implant positioning under lateral forces in guided implantology.

Materials And Methods: An in vitro experiment was conducted using artificial bone blocks and the SIC Invent-guided surgery implant system. Custom drill guides were designed, and 3D-printed, using three sleeve types: sleeveless, a big sleeve, and a small sleeve.

A Comparative Prospective Study on the Accuracy and Efficiency of Autonomous Robotic System Versus Dynamic Navigation System in Dental Implant Placement.

J Clin Periodontol

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases and National Center for Stomatology and National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of and discrepancies between planned and final implant positions using dynamic computer-assisted implant surgery (d-CAIS) and autonomous robotic computer-assisted implant surgery (r-CAIS) in clinical practice.

Materials And Methods: The study included 83 patients, who received 135 implants between December 2022 and March 2024 (r-CAIS group: 43 patients with 71 implants; d-CAIS group: 40 patients with 64 implants). Cone-beam computed tomography scans taken before and after surgery assessed linear and angular deviations between the groups in both 2D and 3D spaces.
