Introduction: Regular consumption of licorice based beverages can provoke pseudohyperaldosteronism with hypokalemia but can rarely lead to severe muscle weakness.
Case Report: A 62-year-old man was admitted for a one-week history of progressive weakness of the four limbs. Blood work revealed severe hypokalemia that was due to primary pseudo-hyperaldosteronism secondary to licorice intoxication. He became normal after correction of the electrolytes disturbances.
Discussion & Conclusion: In an area where a liquorice-based beverage (souss), is frequently and sometimes excessively consumed, pseudo-hyperaldosteronism secondary to licorice toxicity should be thought of in front of any muscle weakness accompanied by hypokalemia. A rapid correction of electrolytes disturbances leads to rapid improvement.

Hairy roots mediated by Agrobacterium rhizogenes can be obtained from the composite plants (plants with hairy roots and untransformed aerial parts) by ex vitro method. Composite plants can produce higher amounts of secondary metabolites by merging hydroponic systems. This provides a stable condition for composite plants, in which various metabolites are produced in different parts.

Objective: Based on Toll Like Receptor 4 (TLR4)/Nuclear Factor-κB (NF-κB) Exploring the effects of Licochalcone A (LCA) on the proliferation, invasion, and drug resistance of glioma cells through signaling pathways.
Methods: Cultivate human glioma cell line U251 in vitro, induce drug-resistant cell line U251/TMZ with Temozolomide (TMZ), and validate the results. Different concentrations of licorice chalcone A were used to treat U251 cells and U251/TMZ cells, and were named as control group, low-dose group, medium-dose group, and high-dose group, respectively.

Background: O-Methyltransferase (OMTs) is a class of conserved multifunctional enzymes that play important roles in plant developmental regulation, hormone signaling, secondary metabolite synthesis and abiotic stress response. The GiOMT gene family has been identified and analyzed in species such as citrus, alfalfa, Populus and grape, but has not been reported in Glycyrrhiza inflata Bat.
Results: In this study, we systematically identified and analyzed the GiOMT gene family of G.
