The green synthesis of irregular-shaped nanomaterials used for various applications in nanoplasmonics, medicine, and biotechnology creates an economical and environmental challenge. We describe the rapid wet-chemical approach to synthesis of stable and water-soluble gold nanostructues at room temperature. In addition to spherical and road-like nanoparticles, gold decahedra and triangular plates were grown using the one-step synthesis process of HAuCl(4) in the presence of honey, in which main components act as reducing (glucose) and stabilizing (fructose) agents; the mechanism of the process is discussed in details. The requirements for anisotropic phase boundaries for generation of polyhedral gold nanocrystals in solutions are highlighted. The synthesis, morphology, and separation procedure of gold nanoparticles are examined using the techniques of optical spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. We demonstrate that centrifugation can be used for efficient separation of nanoparticles with different shapes from a mixture. It was found that while centrifuging, the spheres sediment at the bottom of the tube, segregating from rods that form a deposit on the side wall, whereas polygons remain in the solution.

Aim: To identify developmental trajectories of impaired hand function in infants aged 3 to 15 months with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP).
Method: Sixty-three infants (37 male; median gestational age 37 weeks [interquartile range 30-39.1 weeks]) recruited as part of a randomized trial with a confirmed diagnosis of unilateral CP were included.

There has been a recent surge in schizotypy and metacognition research. Metacognition is an umbrella term for higher-order thought processes. Here, we focussed on maladaptive metacognitive beliefs, which are beliefs related to one's thought processes and often play an important role in the preponderance of psychological disorders.

Objective: To assess the performance of the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) first-trimester competing-risks screening model for small-for-gestational-age (SGA) fetuses requiring delivery at < 37 weeks' gestation, in a large cohort of women receiving maternity care in Australia.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data from a cohort of women attending one of two private multicenter fetal medicine practices for first-trimester screening for preterm pre-eclampsia (PE), defined as PE requiring delivery before 37 weeks' gestation. Risk for preterm SGA, defined as SGA requiring delivery before 37 weeks, was calculated but was not disclosed to the patient or referring physician.

1,1-Difluoroallenes underwent regioselective [2 + 2] and [3 + 2] cycloadditions with aldehydes using Au(I) catalysts. An AuCl catalyst enabled an α,β-selective [2 + 2] cycloaddition of 1,1-difluoroallenes, yielding ()-3-alkylidene-2,2-difluorooxetanes. Conversely, an AuCl(IPr)-AgSbF catalyst facilitated an α,γ-selective [3 + 2] cycloaddition, followed by dehydrofluorination to produce aromatized 2-fluorofurans.

We report the case of an elderly patient with progressive dysphagia to solids and later to liquids, and weight loss. The patient underwent an upper endoscopy, which showed multiple stenoses and trachealization. Biopsies were taken and a diagnosis of lymphocytic esophagitis was made.
