The three-dimensional coordination polymer, [Eu(2)(C(6)H(2)O(4)S)(3)(H(2)O)(4)](n), has been synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit comprises one Eu(3+) cation, two aqua ligands and one and a half thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate anions (the half-anion being completed by a twofold rotation axis). The Eu(3+) cation is eight-coordinated in a distorted dodeca-hedral geometry. The crystal structure features O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

This study delves into the interplay of temperature, composition, tortuosity, and electrostatic interactions on ion diffusion within cation exchange membranes. It explores the temperature dependence (16-60 °C) of the self-diffusion coefficients (SDCs) of Ba and Eu ions within the Nafion 117 cation exchange membrane, particularly in the presence of Na ions. Radiotracer techniques and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were employed to investigate these SDCs.

Adsorption of Eu and Gd on high-charge micas as inner-sphere complexes.

J Colloid Interface Sci

High-charge micas exhibit improved adsorption properties and are a promising alternative clay material for the engineered barrier in deep geological repositories. When combined with Eu cations, they serve as an in situ luminescent probe for tracking the physical-chemical changes occurring in this engineered barrier over the long term. Therefore, a better understanding of the local environment of the lanthanide is highly desirable to comprehend the specific behavior of these systems.

Industrialization of military textiles faces many challenges and some requirements such as durability, protection and suitability for hostile environment must be provided. Herein, fluorescent protective cotton with ultraviolet radiation (UVR)-protection and antimicrobial property was currently prepared via the immobilization of lanthanide-metal organic framework (Ln-MOF). Cotton fabrics were primarily activated via cationization process with 3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride to obtain the cationized cotton (Q-cotton).

December 2024

Henan Key Laboratory of Polyoxometalate Chemistry, College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Henan University, Kaifeng, Henan 475004, China.

The judicious selection and combination of multicomponents provide great potential for the further exploration of new polyoxometalate (POM) materials. Here, a delicate control on tungstate, Sb and Bi sources, Eu ions, and organic molecules led to the discovery of a novel multimetal cluster-embedded POM [HN(CH)]NaH{[Eu(HO)SbBiWO](SbWO)(SbWO)}·78HO (). The polyoxoanion of was constructed from four in situ-formed [SbWO] and [SbWO] building blocks connected by two hexa-metallic [Eu(HO)SbBiWO] clusters, to be a rare member of Sb- and Bi-coexisting POM.

Eu activated ZnSiO red phosphor synthesized by pyrolysis technique at 1000ºC for one hour is reported. Upon excitation by 394 nm and 464 nm, the phosphor displays a distinct red emission peaking around 614 nm, a characteristic of f-f electronic transitions involving Eu ions.Incorporating alkali metal ions such as Li, Na and K into ZnSiO:Eu phosphor led to a remarkable increase in photoluminescence (PL) intensity.
