We have studied 21 eyes of 17 patients which underwent 3 Months before a standard extracapsular cataract extraction and implantation into the sulcus of a posterior chamber lens. All the eyes had a final uncorrected far and near vision of 0.4 (20/50) or better. We have measured the uncorrected near vision before and after pupillary dilatation with 5% phenylephrine. Then, after additional 0.5% cyclopentolate induced cyclopegia, near vision was evaluated again. Our results show a statistically significant decrease in the uncorrected near vision after pupillary dilatation (p less than 0.001). On the contrary additional cyclopegia does not significantly reduce the uncorrected near vision (p greater than 0.08). Our observations confirm the importance of unimpaired pupillary movement as regards best possible uncorrected near vision in pseudophakic patients. The activity of the ciliary muscle does not seem to mainly contribute to the phenomenon of pseudoaccommodation.

IntroductionThe current case series presents the triangular suture technique (TST) for managing intraocular lens (IOL) subluxation in pseudoexfoliation (PXF) syndrome patients, a condition increasing the risk of IOL dislocation post-cataract surgery. The series includes three PXF patients treated with TST for dislocated IOLs.Case descriptionThe first case is an 88-years old woman with recurrent IOL dislocation post-Hoffman pocket fixation.

Aims: To compare the visual effect and subjective satisfaction of cataract patients with different refractive states after trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation.
Methods: This retrospective study describes 134 eyes of 86 patients that were implanted with trifocal IOL (TFNT00). Patients were allocated into three groups according to their preoperative axial length (AL): A group (AL ≤ 24 mm), B group (24 mm < AL < 26 mm), and C group (AL ≥ 26 mm).
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy, predictability, and safety of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism using the SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS excimer laser (SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions).
Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of 1,420 eyes with myopia or myopic astigmatism that underwent LASIK in a single tertiary center between January 2017 and April 2022. The IntraLase iFS femtosecond laser (Johnson & Johnson Vision) was used for flap creation and excimer laser ablation was performed using the SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS with aspheric aberration-free ablation profile, asymmetric pupillary offset, and seven-dimensional eye tracking.
Purpose: To evaluate the clinical and patient-reported outcomes of the toric version of a refractive extended depth of focus intraocular lens (IOL).
Methods: This was a prospective observational study including 26 eyes of 26 patients (age range: 58 to 88 years) who underwent cataract surgery with implantation of the LuxSmart toric IOL (Bausch & Lomb GmbH). Changes in distance, intermediate (80 cm), and near (40 cm) visual acuities, manifest refraction, defocus curve, distance photopic contrast sensitivity (CSV-1000 test), and patient-reported outcomes (Catquest-9SF questionnaire) were evaluated during a 3-month follow-up.

Objective: To examine the association of ADHD and LD with visual impairment, uncorrected refractive error, and refractive error (myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism) among US children and adolescents.
Method: A population-based cross-sectional study included 3,385 participants aged 12-15 years from the large, representative sample of US NHANES. The diagnoses of ADHD and LD in children and adolescents, as reported by parents or adolescents themselves, were analyzed.
