Oocyte quality is crucial for determining the subsequent embryo developmental capacity and reproductive outcomes. However, aging is detrimental to oocyte quality. Previous studies have demonstrated that soy isoflavones have positive effects on the reproductive performance of female pigs.

Converting Fe-N-C single-atom catalyst to a new FeNxSey cluster catalyst for proton-exchange membrane fuel cells.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Tianjin University, School of Materials science and engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tianjin University, 300072, Tianjin, CHINA.

Fe-N-C catalyst is the most promising alternative to platinum catalyst for proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), however its high performance cannot be maintained for a long enough time in device. The construction of a new Fe coordination environment that is different from the square-planar Fe-N 4 configuration in Fe-N-C catalyst is expected to break current stability limits, which however remains unexplored. Here, we report the conversion of Fe-N-C to a new FeNxSey catalyst, where the Fe sites are three-dimensionally (3D) co-coordinated by N and Se atoms.

Exceptional CO2 Hydrogenation to Ethanol via Precise Single-Atom Ir Deposition on Functional P Islands.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Applied Biology and Chemical Technology, 8/F Lee Shau Kee Building, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 00000, Hong Kong, HONG KONG.

The thermocatalytic hydrogenation of CO2 to ethanol has attracted significant interest because ethanol offers ease of transport and substantial value in chemical synthesis. Here, we present a state-of-the-art catalyst for the CO2 hydrogenation to ethanol achieved by precisely depositing single-atom Ir species on P cluster islands situated on the In2O3 nanosheets. The Ir1-Px/In2O3 catalyst achieves an impressive ethanol yield of 3.

Background: As a clinical precursor to Alzheimer's disease (AD), amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) bears a considerably heightened risk of transitioning to AD compared to cognitively normal elders. Early prediction of whether aMCI will progress to AD is of paramount importance, as it can provide pivotal guidance for subsequent clinical interventions in an early and effective manner.

Methods: A total of 107 aMCI cases were enrolled and their electroencephalogram (EEG) data were collected at the time of the initial diagnosis.

Bone graft absorption and infection are the major challenges to guided bone regeneration(GBR), yet the GBR membrane is neither osteogenic nor antibacterial. Hence, we followed sono-piezo therapy strategy by fabricating an electrospun membrane dispersed with boron nitride nanotubes. The PLLA/Gelatine/PDA@BNNT (PGBT) membrane has improved mechanical and biocompatible properties and generate piezovoltages of 130 mV when activated by ultrasound stimulation under 100 mW/cm without extra polarization.
