The binding behavior of triphenylene based copper ensemble prepared in situ has been investigated toward various anions (F(-), Cl(-), Br(-), I(-), CH(3)COO(-), H(2)PO(4)(-), NO(3)(-), OH(-), ClO(4)(-), CN(-), CO(3)(-) and SO(4)(-)) by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Among various anions tested, 1-Cu(2+) ensemble shows selective and sensitive response towards cyanide ions and responds to CN(-) ions even in the presence of bovine serum albumin and in blood serum milieu. Further, as practical application of compound 1, we utilized the TLC strips coated with THF solution of 1 for the solid state detection of copper and cyanide ions.

In this study, we focused on the mechanism of the electrocatalytic oxidation of thiocyanate, which in traditional electrodes typically requires high overpotentials. As models for reducing these overpotentials and catalyzing the reaction, we used a set of modified cobalt phthalocyanines (CoPc), known as electrocatalysts. Using DFT calculations, we explored how modifications to CoPc by adding electron-donating and withdrawing groups and the coordination of 4-amino thiophenol impact the oxidation process.

A AuNSs@PB@Ag-Apt surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) probe has been developed by embedding Prussian blue (PB) between Au core and Ag shell. The PB SERS probe illustrates strong SERS activity in the Raman silent region of 2070 cm, and has a zero background signal, ensuring high sensitivity for the detection of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus).

The lily is a globally popular cut flower, and managing dormancy in lily bulblets is essential for continuous, year-round production. While nitric oxide (NO) has been shown to influence seed dormancy and germination, its role in dormancy release in lilies was previously unconfirmed. In this study, we investigated the effects of NO on dormancy release in lily bulblets using SNP and c-PTIO.

This research presents a simple procedure for chemically modifying yeast () cells with nickel hexacyanoferrate (NiHCF) and ferric hexacyanoferrate, also known as Prussian blue (PB), to increase the conductivity of the yeast cell wall. Using linear sweep voltammetry, NiHCF-modified yeast and PB-modified yeast (NiHCF/yeast and PB/yeast, respectively) were found to have better cell wall conductivity in [Fe(CN)] and glucose-containing phosphate-buffered solution than unmodified yeast. Spectrophotometric analysis showed that the modification of yeast cells with NiHCF had a less harmful effect on yeast cell viability than the modification of yeast cells with PB.
