Laser resonance ionization mass spectrometry (RIMS) represents one of the most sensitive and selective techniques for ultra trace determination of long-lived radioisotopes. The isotope (99g)Tc constitutes a specific candidate of high relevance concerning its environmental behavior as well as fundamental research applications. Based on the recent precision determination of the ionization potential of technetium by laser resonance ionization, refined resonant optical excitation pathways have been derived for analytical determination of ultra trace amounts of (99g)Tc by laser mass spectrometric approaches. The state of the art and the specifications of RIMS-based ultra trace determination for (99g)Tc, leading to a level of detection of ε ≈ 3 × 10(-4) atoms (3 μBq), are reported.

This research presents a systematic review of the application of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs, compounds with high vapor pressure at ambient temperature and normal pressure, are widely present in a variety of industrial and living environments. VOCs are not only hazardous to the environment but also have a severe impact on human health.

College of Coastal Agricultural Sciences, Guangdong Ocean University, Zhanjiang 524088, China. Electronic address:

Soil pollution by microplastics (MPs) and cadmium (Cd) poses significant threats to agricultural production, yet their combined toxicity and underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we examined the effects of three types of MPs-polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polypropylene (PP)-with particle sizes of 150 μm and 10 μm, in combination with Cd stress (5 mg/kg) on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) growth.

Historical inventories and future scenarios of multiple hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) emissions from the iron and steel production industry in China.

Sci Total Environ

State Key Joint Laboratory of Environmental Simulation & Pollution Control, School of Environment, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, China; Center for Atmospheric Environmental Studies, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, China.

Iron and steel production (ISP) is one of significant atmospheric pollution emission sources in China. With the implementation of ultra-low emission (ULE) standards, a detailed and new updated emission inventory is urgently needed for better understanding of the temporal trends and spatial variation of emission characteristics. In this study, a unit-based comprehensive emission inventory of multiple hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) for the Chinese ISP spanned from 2012 to 2021, including the conventional pollutants, 13 kinds of Trace elements as well as 2 unconventional but toxic pollutants (PCDD/Fs, F), was dedicatedly developed by integrating dynamic localized emission factors with unit-based information of both the detailed activity level and abatement technology application.

Thiram is a readily synthesized, cost-effective antimicrobial agent widely used to control diseases in fruits and vegetables. Given the potential health hazards associated with thiram residues and advancements in detection methods, it is crucial to develop a rapid and sensitive technique for detecting these residues on fruit surfaces. Here, we prepared the Ag@filter paper (Ag@FP) surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate in a controlled manner and innovatively developed a capillarity-assisted SERS (CA-SERS) detection method.

Background: At present, there is a lack of efficient biomarkers for the diagnosis of thyroid cancer, and the influence of natural factors such as high iodine exposure on the expression of biomarkers remains unclear.

Methods: Serum samples from papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) and non-cancer controls matched 1:1 in different iodine nutritional regions were analyzed metabolomically using an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-Orbitrap Exploris mass spectrometry (UHPLC-OE-MS) platform. Then the data were randomly divided into training and test sets in a 1:1 ratio according to the different iodine nutritional regions and different PTC status.
