Introduction/background: Though CIDP and ATM are both inflammatory disorders of the nervous system with distinct features, they rarely occur together in the same individual.

Case Presentation: A 41-year-old male trader was admitted with 10 10-day history of paraplegia and weakness of upper limbs. The illness started with lower limb paresthesia, weakness of the left leg, then the right leg after 5 days, proceeding to paraplegia, weakness of upper arms, urine retention, and constipation 3 days before presentation.

Hemodynamic management of acute kidney injury.

Curr Opin Crit Care

December 2024

Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care & Perioperative Medicine, Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris. Paris Saclay University, Paris, France.

Purpose Of Review: To discuss the role of hemodynamic management in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury.

Recent Findings: Acute kidney injury (AKI) may be associated with persistent alterations in renal perfusion, even when cardiac output and blood pressure are preserved. The effects of interventions aiming at increasing renal perfusion are best evaluated by renal Doppler or contrast enhance ultrasound.

Vasopressinergic sexual dimorphism: Sex chromosome complement and organizational hormonal effects.

Mol Cell Endocrinol

December 2024

Instituto de Investigación Médica Mercedes y Martín Ferreyra, INIMEC-CONICET-Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Córdoba, Argentina. Electronic address:

This study aimed to analyze the role of the sex chromosomes (SCC: XX/XY) and the interaction with organizational hormonal effects on Avp gene expression at the supraoptic (SON) and paraventricular nuclei (PVN) due to water deprivation, as well as on the vasopressinergic sexually dimorphic antidiuretic and pressor responses. For this purpose, we used gonadectomized (GDX) transgenic mice of the "four core genotypes" model, in which the effect of gonadal sex and SCC are dissociated. A significant interaction between treatment and SCC on Avp gene expression at the SON was observed.

Article Synopsis
  • Primary atopic disorders (PAD) are rare genetic conditions caused by specific gene variants that affect skin and immune function, making diagnosis challenging among common allergic disease cases.
  • Identifying PAD requires recognizing clinical red flags like family history and unusual infections, as conventional lab tests are inadequate for definitive diagnosis.
  • Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) enhances diagnostic efficiency and accuracy, but requires careful interpretation and collaboration among specialists to effectively manage PAD cases.

Background: Transglutaminase 2 (TG2) is a multifunctional enzyme involved in fibrosis by promoting transforming-growth-factor-β1 and crosslinking of extracellular matrix proteins. These functions are dependent on the open conformation, while the closed state of TG2 can induce vasodilation. We explored the putative protective role of TG2 in its closed state on development of renal fibrosis and blood pressure (BP) regulation.
