Morphology of hormonally inactivated pituitary adenoma can be different types of tumors. Morphological immunohistochemical and electron-microscopic researches of 23 hormonally inactivated pituitary adenomas has been carried out. We shown that more frequent morphological substrate was gonadotropinoma or "zero-cells" adenoma. According to our results, gonadotropinomas, "zero-cells" adenomas and oncocytomas have similar features and can be put into the same group of tumor Pathomorphologist has to differentiate this group of tumors from others "silent" pituitary adenomas because they have different prognosis for a disease. A research of somatostatin and dopamine receptors expression would be new area for differential diagnosis of these types of adenomas.

Krüppel-like factor 6 (KLF6) knockdown provides protection against kidney ischemia/reperfusion injury and ischemic stroke. However, it is unclear whether it plays a role in myocardial infarction (MI). Here, the expression of KLF6 was analyzed using the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and determined in patients with MI.

Prolactin (PRL) is a 23-kDa protein synthesized and secreted by lactotroph cells of the anterior pituitary gland but also by other peripheral tissues. PRL binds directly to a unique transmembrane receptor (PRLR), and the JAK2/signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (Stat5) pathway is considered the major downstream pathway for PRLR signaling. To a lesser extent, PRL may be cleaved into the shorter 16-kDa PRL, also called vasoinhibin, whose signaling is not fully known.

Pituitary tumors, including prolactinomas, present significant clinical challenges that require a deeper understanding of their molecular roots for improved diagnostics and therapies. Here, we investigate the role of the phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)/phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway in pituitary tumorigenesis using a mouse model. Conditional knockout of Pten in all pituitary cell lineages resulted in prolactinoma formation exclusively in female mice, demonstrating the critical role of PTEN in pituitary homeostasis.

The MYC transcription factor requires MAX for DNA binding and widespread activation of gene expression in both normal and neoplastic cells. Surprisingly, inactivating mutations in are associated with a subset of neuroendocrine cancers including pheochromocytoma, pituitary adenoma and small cell lung cancer. Neither the extent nor the mechanisms of MAX tumor suppression are well understood.
