The in vitro investigation of many optically opaque biological microstructures requires 3D analysis at high resolution over a large field of view. We demonstrate a new nondestructive volumetric imaging technique that eliminates the structural and computational limitations of conventional 2D optical microscopy by combining x-ray phase-contrast tomography with critical point drying sample preparation. We experimentally demonstrate the enhancement of small features afforded by phase-contrast imaging and show the contrast improvement afforded by the drying of a hydrated specimen. We further demonstrate the biological application of this technique by imaging the microstructure of the accommodative apparatus in a primate eye using a benchtop phase-contrast tomography system.

Unlabelled: Accurate estimation of the Lung Shunt Fraction (LSF) is a standard of care in yttrium-90 ( Y) radioembolization treatment planning to prevent excessive lung irradiation due to arterio-venous shunting in the liver. LSF is assessed using Tc macroaggregated albumin ( Tc-MAA) imaging, but this approach adds risk, complexity, and expense to the treatment planning. This study investigates the potential of Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography (CECT) as a non-invasive alternative for LSF estimation.

Objectives: To evaluate the function of kidneys with renal artery stenosis using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging, assess the diagnostic efficacy of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging for single kidney dysfunction.
Materials And Methods: Renal multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging was performed on 62 patients with RAS using the Philips Ingenia CX 3.0 T MRI machine.

Objective: Computed tomography (CT) measured muscle density is prognostic of health outcomes. However, the use of intravenous contrast obscures prognoses by artificially increasing CT muscle density. We previously established a correction to equalize contrast and noncontrast muscle density measurements.

Background: The pressure gradient between the ventricles and the subarachnoid space (transmantle pressure) is crucial for understanding CSF circulation and the pathogenesis of certain neurodegenerative diseases. This pressure can be approximated by the pressure difference across the aqueduct (ΔP). Currently, no dedicated platform exists for quantifying ΔP, and no research has been conducted on the impact of breathing on ΔP.

Rationale And Objectives: Mixed ground-glass nodules (mGGNs) are highly malignant and common nonspecific lung imaging findings. This study aimed to explore whether combining quantitative and qualitative spectral dual-layer detector-based computed tomography (SDCT)-derived parameters with serological tumor abnormal proteins (TAPs) and thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) expression enhances invasive mGGN diagnostic efficacy and to develop a joint diagnostic model.
Materials And Methods: This prospective study included patients with mGGNs undergoing preoperative triple-phase contrast-enhanced SDCT with TAP and TK1 tests.
