The financial costs of laryngeal cancer treatment are a notable burden on healthcare budgets. In this study, we assess whether CO2 laser surgery is cheaper than radiotherapy or laryngofissure and cordectomy in the treatment of T1-2, N0, M0 glottic squamous cell carcinoma. 56 patients with a mean age of 65.88 years (SD = 10.04), 53 men and 3 women, with T1-2, N0, M0 glottic squamous cell carcinoma were retrospectively analysed. We conducted a comparative analysis of costs associated with three treatments: carbon dioxide laser cordectomy (n = 21), radiotherapy (n = 20), and laryngofissure cordectomy (n = 15). Complications of the radiotherapy and surgical treatments, need for tracheotomy and its permanence, length of hospital stay, occupation and ability to work and economic costs of treatments were recorded. Cost-minimisation and cost-effectiveness analysis were obtained. The cost of transoral laser cordectomy (2,289.79 euro) is statistically significantly lower than that of radiotherapy (4,804.72 euro) or laryngofissure cordectomy (13,229.75 euro) (p < 0.001). Transoral carbon dioxide laser surgery is the best option in terms of cost-effectiveness for the treatment of T1-2, N0, M0 glottic cancer.

Introduction: Cordectomy by laringofissure and transoral laser surgery has been proposed for the treatment of early glottic cancer.
Objectives: The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the prognostic value of margin status in 162 consecutive cases of early glottic carcinoma (Tis-T1) treated with CO laser endoscopic surgery (Group A) or laryngofissure cordectomy (Group B), and to compare the oncologic and functional results.
Methods: Clinical prognostic factors, local recurrence rate according to margin status, overall survival and disease-free survival were analyzed.

Introduction: Glottic carcinoma can be successfully diagnosed in its early stages and treated with high percentage of success. Organ preservation and optimal functional outcomes could be achieved with wide array of surgical techniques for early glottic cancer, including endoscopic approaches or open laryngeal preserving procedures, making surgery the preferred method of treatment of early glottic carcinoma in the last few years.
Material And Methods: Prospective study was done on 59 patients treated for Tis and T1a glottic carcinoma over a one-year time period in a tertiary medical center.

Objective: Proposed methods for treating early glottic carcinoma are cordectomy through laryngofissure, laser cordectomy, and radiotherapy. The aim of the study was to conduct comprehensive study to evaluate oncological and functional results of different treatment modalities for Tis and T1 glottic carcinoma, identify prognostic factors for the outcome of treatment and decide where we stand in applying worldwide standards of early glottic carcinoma treatment.
Methods: Prospective study was conducted on 221 patients treated with Tis and T1 glottic carcinoma from 1998 to 2003 (72 patients were treated endoscopically with CO2 laser, 75 patients with cordectomy through laryngofissure and 74 with radiotherapy), with follow-up period from 38 to 107 months.
