Highly conjugated porphyrin derivatives, H(2) TP and ZnTP, are synthesized. J-aggregations of the H-aggregated dimeric porphyrin pairs are clearly observed by their single crystal structures that facilitate slip-stacked charge transport phenomenon. In particular, their SC-FETs show the highest field-effect mobilities of 0.85-2.90 cm(2) V(-1) s(-1) . Furthermore, the ZnTP-based OPT displays a dramatic photoinduced current enhancement with a high photoresponsivity of 22 000 A W(-1) under a very low light intensity (5.6 m W cm(-2) ).

KU Leuven, Department of Materials Engineering, Kasteelpark Arenberg 44 - bus 2450, Leuven, 3001, Belgium.

The emerging fields of wearables and the Internet of Things introduce the need for electronics and power sources with unconventional form factors: large area, customizable shape, and flexibility. Thermoelectric (TE) generators can power those systems by converting abundant waste heat into electricity, whereas the versatility of additive manufacturing suits heterogeneous form factors. Here, additive manufacturing of high-performing flexible TEs is proposed.

Exploring high-performing Ni-based electrocatalysts for the urea oxidation reaction (UOR) is crucial for developing urea-related energy technologies yet remains a daunting challenge. In this study, a synergistic anomalous hcp phase and heteroatom doping engineering over metallic Ni are found to enhance the UOR. A metal-organic framework-mediated approach is proposed to construct Ni nanoparticles (NPs) with designated crystal phase embedded in N-doped carbon (fcc-Ni/NC and hcp-Ni/NC).

Better together: Protein partnerships for lineage-specific oil accumulation.

Curr Opin Plant Biol

April 2022

Department of Biochemistry and Center for Plant Science Innovation, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, NE, 68588, USA. Electronic address:

Plant-derived oils are a major agricultural product that exist in both ubiquitous forms such as common vegetable oils and in specialized forms such as castor oil and coconut oil. These specialized oils are the result of lineage-specific metabolic pathways that create oils rich in unusual fatty acids. Considerable progress has been made toward understanding the enzymes that mediate fatty acid biosynthesis, triacylglycerol assembly, and oil storage.

Organic solar cells (OSCs) based on D18:Y6 have recently exhibited a record power conversion efficiency of over 18%. The initial work is extended and the device performance of D18-based OSCs is compared with three non-fullerene acceptors, Y6, IT-4F, and IEICO-4Cl, and their molecular packing characteristics and miscibility are studied. The D18 polymer shows unusually strong chain extension and excellent backbone ordering in all films, which likely contributes to the excellent hole-transporting properties.

Recently, there has been an increasing number of studies on exceptional cognitive aging. Herein, we aim to objectively provide the operationalized characterization of older adults with unusually high memory ability. Some authors have defined them as "SuperAgers", individuals aged 80 years or older with memory ability similar or superior to middle-aged subjects.
