Hybrid multicompartment artificial architectures, inherited from different compartmental systems, possess separate microenvironments that can perform different functions. Herein, a hybrid compartmentalized architecture via hybridizing ferritin nanocage (Fn) with non-aqueous droplets using aminated-modified amphiphilic gelatin (AGEL) is proposed, which enables the generation of compartmentalized emulsions with hybrid multicompartments. The resulting compartmentalized emulsions are termed "hybrasome".

This study investigates the metabolic responses of cancerous (RCC) and non-cancerous (HK2) kidney cells to treatment with Staurosporine (STAU), which has a pro-apoptotic effect, and Bongkrekic acid (BKA), which has an anti-apoptotic effect, individually and in combination, using H NMR metabolomics to identify metabolite markers linked to mitochondrial apoptotic pathways. BKA had minimal metabolic effects in RCC cells, suggesting its role in preserving mitochondrial function without significantly altering metabolic pathways. In contrast, STAU induced substantial metabolic reprogramming in RCC cells, disrupting energy production, redox balance, and biosynthesis, thereby triggering apoptotic pathways.

Malnutrition in CF now includes an increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity, particularly in those receiving CF transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulator therapy (CFTRm). We aimed to characterise peripheral muscle function and body composition in pwCF on Elexacaftor/Tezacaftor/Ivacaftor (ETI) CFTRm, compared to healthy controls.

Aim: Mitochondria play key roles in neuronal activity, particularly in modulating agouti-related protein (AgRP) and proopiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus (ARC), which regulates food intake. FAM163A, a newly identified protein, is suggested to be part of the mitochondrial proteome, though its functions remain largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate the effects of Fam163a knockdown and mitochondrial dysfunction on food intake, AgRP neuron activity, and mitochondrial function in the hypothalamus.

Ferroptosis is an emerging form of programmed cell death triggered by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation. It is distinguished from other forms of cell death by its unique morphological changes and characteristic fine-tuned regulatory gene network. Since its pivotal involvement in the pathogenesis and therapeutic interventions of various diseases, such as malignant tumors, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and traumatic disorders, has been well-established, ferroptosis has garnered significant attention in contemporary physiological and pathological research.
