A four-year prophylactic screening of 7076 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis revealed recurrences in 3.3% of cases. The proportion of recurrences was highest in patients with an inadequate main course of chemotherapy and aggravating factors in 35.7%. The frequency of recurrences in clinically cured cases depended on the adequacy of the main course of chemotherapy, residual changes and their association with aggravating factors.
