Though removing of the pectorals fascia has always been routinely performed in modified radical mastectomy for invasive breast cancer, there is no evidence that this routine is justified. The authors present some of the scarce data found in literature, and discuss the advantages of living the pectorals fascia in situ to facilitate implant based reconstruction.
