Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerized tomography (CT) have added a new dimension in the diagnosis and management of ocular and orbital diseases. Although CT is more widely used, MRI is the modality of choice in select conditions and can be complimentary to CT in certain situations. The diagnostic yield is best when the ophthalmologist and radiologist work together. Ophthalmologists should be able to interpret these complex imaging modalities as better clinical correlation is then possible. In this article, we attempt to describe the basic principles of MRI and its interpretation, avoiding confusing technical terms.

This article aims to introduce a novel full-endoscopic anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) procedure to treat cervical myelopathy. Adoption of endoscopic anterior cervical procedures has been lagging due to safety concerns and the necessity of placing an interbody cage. We have developed novel instrumentation and a modified percutaneous anterior cervical approach that allows a safe and reproducible full-endoscopic ACDF.

A novel glucomannan, named ATSW-1, was obtained from Allii Tuberosi Semen by ion and gel permeation chromatography purification. Its structure was characterized using high-performance chromatography, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The in vitro immune activities of ATSW-1 were examined using the Cell Counting Kit-8, the neutral red phagocytosis assay, and the secretion of related cytokines.

Background: White matter lesions and subclinical cerebral ischemia (SCI) are described as risk factors for postoperative cognitive decline (POCD) following cardiac surgery. This report aims to investigate the effect of brain lesions on postoperative cognitive training outcomes.
Methods: In a randomized, treatment-as-usual controlled trial, elderly patients scheduled for elective heart valve surgery participated.

Objective: To determine the positive predictive value (PPV) of CSF John Cunningham virus (JCV) quantitative PCR (qPCR) for progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), and highlight neuroimaging findings reported to be suggestive of this disease.
Methods: We reviewed patients at London Health Sciences Centre with a positive CSF JCV qPCR result. Patients were classified as true-positive if they had a clinico-radiographic presentation compatible with PML and no more likely alternative diagnosis.

Background: Radiologically Isolated Syndrome (RIS) characterized by abnormalities on MRI that do not manifest as clinical symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) but raise suspicion for MS. Considering that RIS often evolves into MS, various diagnostic criteria have been established, and each suggested biomarker warrants thorough consideration and discussion. In this study, metabolomic profiling of body fluids of patients who were being followed up with a pre-diagnosis of RIS or MS and had not yet received any treatment was conducted.
