Published: February 2012

Objective: To study the chemical constituents of the ethyl acetate extract from Blumea aromatica.

Methods: Column chromatographic techniques were used for the isolation and purification. Spectroscopic techniques were used for the identification of structures.

Results: Seven compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of 80% alcohol extract of the whole plant, and their structures were identified as xanthoxylin(1), dibutyl phthalate(2), luteolin-3',4',7-trimethyl ether(3), rubiadin(4), eriodictyol(5), kaempherol(6), luteolin 7,3'-dimethyl ether(7).

Conclusion: All the compounds are isolated from this plant for the first time. Among them, compounds 2,4 and 7 are isolated from this genus for the first time.

The study of green analytical chemistry has garnered significant attention in the context of mitigating global environmental contamination. In this study, we present two methodologies for environmentally friendly chromatography that enable simultaneous and specific determination of Saxagliptin (SAX), metformin (MET), and a pharmacopoeial impurity of MET known as melamine (MEL). The initial method employed in this study is High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC), which utilized 60 F 254 silica gel-coated Mark HPTLC plates on aluminum sheets as the stationary phase.

Oxidative damage, oxidative inflammation, and a range of downstream diseases represent significant threats to human health. The application of natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents can help prevent and mitigate these associated diseases. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of walnut green husk (WNGH) as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent in an in vitro setting.

Introduction: Fungal endophytes have mutualistic associations with the plant's host, communicating through genetic and metabolic processes. As a result, they gain the ability to generate therapeutically effective metabolites and their derivatives.

Methods: The current study aims to assess antioxidant potential along with the identification of robust metabolites within the crude extract of a potent endophytic fungus Xylaria ellisii isolated from leaf tissues of the Acorus calamus Linn plant.
