One novel compound was isolated from the hexane extract of Choisya ternata Kunth. leaves, choisyaternatine (1), together with the known compounds tecleamaniensine A (2), lup-20(29)-en-3β-ol (lupeol) (3), lup-20(29)-en-3β,24-diol (4), β-sitosterol glucoside (5), and skimmianine (6), plus the following known compounds from the dichloromethane extract, choisyine (7) and 6-methoxy-7,8-methylenedioxycoumarin (8). Compounds 2-5 are reported for the first time in this species. The structures of isolated compounds were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses and comparison with previously reported spectroscopic data. The structure of choisyaternatine was further confirmed based on X-ray data analysis.

The carnation tortrix moth, Cacoecimorpha pronubana (Hübner, [1799]) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), is one of the most economically important insect species affecting the horticultural industry in the UK. The larvae consume foliage, flowers or fruits, and/or rolls leaves together with silken threads, negatively affecting the growth and/or aesthetics of the crop. In order to understand the polyphagous behaviour of this species within an ornamental crop habitat, we hypothesized that different host plant species affect its life history traits differently.

The in silico evaluation for the three previously synthesized compounds (Methyl (MMA), propyl (PMA) and isopropyl (IMA) N-methylanthranilate), MMA and IMA originally found in the leaf essential oil of Choisya ternata, provided a very good confirmation for the in vivo pharmacological results obtained with such compounds for a number of pharmacological targets. This manuscript dealt with their assessment in six pharmacological targets to understanding anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, anxiolytic, antidepressant and anti-allergic activities using docking molecular as well as their pharmacokinetics and toxicological parameters prediction. The compound IMA seems to be the best one when all the combined parameters are put together.

Two volatile alkaloids, methyl (MMA) and isopropyl N-methylanthranilates (IMA), identified in the essential oil of Choisya ternata Kunth (Rutaceae), have been proven to possess polypharmacological properties (antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, gastro-, hepato-, nephroprotective activities, anxiolytic and antidepressant properties, and likewise an effect on diazepam-induced sleep). In the continuation of our investigation of their urinary-metabolite profiles, we performed GC-MS analyses of the diethyl-ether extracts of selected tissues (liver, kidneys, heart, brain, lungs, quadriceps femoris muscle, and spleen) of rats intraperitoneally treated with MMA or IMA (2 g kg). Organ-metabolite profiles of MMA and IMA were qualitatively mutually analogous (varying only in the alcohol moiety of the metabolites), and generally analogous to their urinary-metabolite profiles.

Phytophthora tentaculata was detected for the first time in North America in 2012 in a nursery on sticky monkeyflower plant (Diplacus aurantiacus) and again in 2014 on outplanted native plants. At that time, this species was listed as a federally actionable and reportable pathogen by the USDA. As a result of these detections, California native plant nurseries were surveyed to determine the prevalence of Phytophthora species on native plant nursery stock.
