Background: The goal of this study was to investigate the modulation of the contraction-relaxation effects in isolated human thoracic artery samples of three calcium-channel antagonists, amlodipine (CAS [88150-42-9]), cerebrocrast (CAS [118790-71-9]) and diltiazem (CAS [42399-41-7]), and two calcium-channel agonists, CGP 28392 (CAS [89289-93-0]) and benzimidazole derivative. To estimate the endothelial function of the artery samples, carbachol, an agonist of muscarinic receptors, was used.
Methods: The experiments were conducted on isolated human thoracic artery samples, and their isometric contractions were recorded using an i-FOT10 force transducer. Cumulative concentration-contraction curves of the tested agents (10(-7) to 10(-4) M) were established.
Results: Carbachol at concentrations of 10(-7) to 10(-6) M did not cause any relaxation of artery rings precontracted by 10(-4) M phenylephrine, and at concentrations of 10(-5) and 10(-4) M, isometric contractions increased by 7% and 20%, respectively. In response to amlodipine, cerebrocrast and CGP28392, the contraction of artery samples increased significantly, whereas diltiazem and benzimidazole derivative caused their relaxation by ≈55%.
Conclusion: The obtained data indicate that the endothelium of the thoracic artery, which is used for coronary artery bypass grafting, is damaged by and may have some influence on the inadequate response of 1,4-dihydropyrine type calcium-channel antagonists.

Globally, the prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD) is increasing, accounting for a third of all deaths worldwide including myocardial infarctions (MIs) which represent the most severe clinical manifestation of CAD and are among the most dangerous coronary events. Therefore, this study aims to assess the knowledge of symptoms and risk factors of MIs, as well as attitudes and beliefs regarding MIs and confidence in recognizing CAD symptoms in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among individuals living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia between November 2023 and April 2024 to assess their knowledge and beliefs about CAD and MIs.

Background: Birth asphyxia is a critical condition caused by an insufficient oxygen supply during delivery, and it poses a major threat to the health of newborns. The present meta-analysis aimed to estimate the prevalence of birth asphyxia among neonates and identify its risk factors in China.
Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science, the China Academic Journals (CNKI), the Chinese Biomedical Literature (CBM), the China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), and the WanFang database were searched for related publications.

Background: The management of patients with subclavian artery injury is rapidly evolving from an open to an endovascular approach. We aim to present an analysis of management and a comparison of outcomes according to the type of approach used to treat these challenging injuries.
Methods: Adult patients with subclavian arterial injuries were abstracted from the National Inpatient Sample database from 2012 to 2014 and 2016 to 2021.

Coronary artery disease represents a formidable health threat to middle-aged and elderly populations worldwide. This research introduces an advanced BP neural network algorithm, EPSOSA-BP, which integrates particle swarm optimization, simulated annealing, and a particle elimination mechanism to elevate the precision of heart disease prediction models. To address prior limitations in feature selection, the study employs single-hot encoding and Principal Component Analysis, thereby enhancing the model's feature learning capability.

Objectives: The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of vasodilator administration on CT angiography (CTA) prostatic artery diameter and peak opacification in dogs with prostatic carcinoma prior to prostatic artery embolization (PAE).
Materials And Methods: A prospective clinical trial was performed. Ten dogs with naturally occurring prostatic carcinoma and no evidence of cardiovascular disease were enrolled.
