Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical significance of cystatin C(CysC) in the newborns who show normal serum creatinine (Cr) and who are in an intensive care unit.
Methods: From July 2009 to May 2010, a total of 106 patients (53 male and 53 female newborns) in a neonatal intensive care unit at Kyung Hee Medical Center were enrolled in this study. When clinicians ordered CysC, it was tested using HiSens Cystatin-C LTIA(HBi, An-yang, Korea) on a Toshiba chemical analyzer (Toshiba, Nasushiobara, Japan).
Results: The range of serum Cr and CysCwas from 0.1 to 0.8 mg/dL and from 1.0 to 2.3 mg/L, respectively. CysCpresented the wider amplitude of the changes in acute renal failure.
Conclusion: In this study, CysCwithout an increased Cr showed only a mild increase. However, CysCreflected more delicate changes in newborns than the serum Cr. This characteristic of CysCcould make it very appropriate for a pediatric population, especially for critically ill newborns.

This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of a questionnaire on patient acceptance of orthodontic retainers. The original questionnaire was forward- and backward-translated, followed by four validity tests (content validity, face validity, construct validity, criterion validity) and two reliability tests (test-retest reliability, internal consistency). Content validity was assessed by nine orthodontists who appraised the questionnaire's representativeness, relevance, clarity, and necessity.

The detection of Estrogen Receptor (ER), Progesterone Receptor (PR), and Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) is important for the stratification of breast cancer and the selection of therapeutic modalities. This study aimed to determine the quantitative expression of ER, PR and HER-2 using Immunohistochemistry and their correlation with quantitative baseline Ct values measured using Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). This study also assessed the use of fresh breast tissue biopsies preserved in RNAlater solution in the quantitative detection of these receptors using PCR technique.

Importance: The phase 3 randomized EMBARK trial evaluated enzalutamide with or without leuprolide in high-risk nonmetastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. Eligibility relied on conventional imaging, which underdetects metastatic disease compared with prostate-specific membrane antigen-positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET).
Objective: To describe the staging information obtained by PSMA-PET/computed tomography (PSMA-PET/CT) in a patient cohort eligible for the EMBARK trial.

Importance: A wealth of research on screening for social risks in health care has emerged, but evidence is lacking on how social risk screening among physician practices has changed over time.
Objectives: To evaluate trends in screening for social risks among US physician practices and examine practice characteristics associated with adoption of social risk screening.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The main analysis used a repeated cross-sectional design to analyze results from US physician practices that completed the National Survey of Healthcare Organizations and Systems, a nationally representative survey of physician practices, in 2017 and 2022.
