The Sabatier principle suggests that an excessive adsorption of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) by metal compounds may hinder their conversion in the absence of a conversion module. Therefore, it is imperative to establish a synergetic effect mechanism between "strong adsorption" and "rapid conversion" for LiPSs. To achieve this coexistence, a molybdenum-doped MnS/MnO@C porous structure is designed as a multifunctional coating on the polypropylene (PP) separator.

Nanostructured transitional metal compounds (TMCs) have demonstrated extraordinary promise for high-efficient and rapid lithium storage. However, good performance is usually limited to electrodes with low mass loading (≤1.0 mg cm ) and is difficult to realize at higher mass loading due to increased electrons/ions transport limitations in the thicker electrode.

As ordered porous materials, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted tremendous attention in the field of energy conversion and storage due to their high specific surface area, permanent porosity, and tunable pore sizes. Here, MOF-derived MnO/C nanocomposites with regular octahedral shape were synthesized using a Mn-based analogue of the MIL-100 framework (Mn-MIL-100, MIL: Matérial Institut Lavoisier) as the precursor. Using aberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM), MnO nanocages with a diameter of approximately 20 nm were recognized in the MnO/C nanocomposites fabricated, dispersed in a microporous carbon matrix homogeneously.

The activation of oxygen (O) under room condition is important for the utilization of air to perform oxidation. Here, we report a porous carbon-encapsulated MnO (MnO@C) derived from Mn metal-organic framework (MOF)grown in-situ on a graphite felt (GF) support. The MnO@C exhibits superior catalytic activity in an electric field-assisted catalytic oxidation system for the degradation of organic pollutants under room condition.

The biotemplate and bioconversion strategy represents a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to material manufacturing. In the current study, biogenic manganese oxide aggregates of the Mn-oxidizing bacterium sp. T34 were used as a precursor to synthesize a biocomposite that incorporated Co (CMC-Co) under mild shake-flask conditions based on the biomineralization process of biogenic Mn oxides and the characteristics of metal ion subsidies.
